Details

OpenAI's Enterprise team builds AI-powered enterprise products and shared platform capabilities that help organizations use advanced AI securely and at scale. The work spans enterprise workflows, agent experiences, integrations, identity, administration, security, governance, and deployment.

As a Technical Program Manager on Enterprise, you will lead the technical strategy and execution behind products and shared capabilities that make ChatGPT, Codex, and future OpenAI products useful, secure, and scalable for organizations. You will translate customer needs, competitive dynamics, and product priorities into actionable plans, influence architectural direction, and deliver capabilities across application, platform, and infrastructure layers.

This role is based in San Francisco, California, and follows a hybrid work model requiring three days in the office per week.

Responsibilities

  • Drive technical strategy and execution for enterprise product and AI workflow initiatives, from design through implementation, launch, customer rollout, and iteration.
  • Partner with engineering teams to influence architectural direction, interface definitions, and implementation tradeoffs across full-stack products, APIs, integrations, and shared platform systems.
  • Translate enterprise customer requirements into product priorities across AI-powered workflows, agent experiences, integrations, permissions, data access, evaluations, identity, security, governance, and deployment readiness.
  • Represent enterprise buyers, IT administrators, security teams, business leaders, developers, and end users in product and technical decisions.
  • Identify adoption barriers, competitive gaps, and opportunities to make OpenAI products easier to evaluate, purchase, deploy, manage, and scale.
  • Balance near-term customer needs and delivery commitments with long-term platform direction, technical quality, and responsible deployment.
  • Coordinate enterprise launch readiness, including security and operational requirements, customer-facing dependencies, escalation paths, and post-launch follow-through.
  • Drive alignment across Product, Engineering, Security, Safety, Legal, Design, and go-to-market teams through clear ownership, milestones, sequencing, and decision-making.
  • Work directly with enterprise customers, design partners, and customer-facing teams to identify high-value workflows, understand deployment friction, and turn recurring customer needs into scalable product and platform improvements.
  • Define success through measurable improvements in enterprise activation, workflow quality, production readiness, sustained adoption, customer trust, and business impact.
  • Improve execution through practical operating mechanisms, scalable tooling, and data- or AI-assisted workflows.
  • Communicate program health, technical risks, recommendations, and consequential tradeoffs clearly to engineering teams and senior leadership.

Requirements

  • Strong track record leading complex technical programs across enterprise software, cloud platforms, developer products, or AI systems.
  • Strong technical acumen across several areas, including full-stack product systems, client technologies, API development, scalable architecture, and enterprise integrations.
  • Experience influencing architectural direction and technical decisions.
  • Understanding of enterprise requirements such as SSO, SCIM, role-based access control, audit logging, data residency, compliance, and administrative controls.
  • Understanding of how enterprises evaluate, buy, deploy, and govern software, including the priorities of buyers, administrators, security teams, developers, and end users.
  • Ability to connect technical architecture, hands-on problem-solving, customer conversations, and strategic decisions to product direction and business outcomes.
  • Product judgment across modern AI systems, including agents, connectors, tool use, retrieval or context, and evaluations, as well as tradeoffs involving reliability, latency, cost, safety, and user experience.
  • Sound judgment in ambiguous environments and the ability to bring structure to complex work without slowing teams down.
  • Experience leading enterprise software launches involving security, identity, compliance, or deployment readiness is preferred.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to build trust and influence decisions without formal authority.

Benefits

  • Base salary of $257,000–$445,000 per year, plus equity.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with employer contributions to Health Savings Accounts.
  • Pre-tax accounts for health and dependent care expenses, parking, and transit.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
  • Paid parental, medical, and caregiver leave.
