About the Team

The AI Deployment Engineer team is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective deployment of Generative AI applications for developers and enterprises. The team acts as a trusted advisor and thought partner for customers, building a backlog of frontier AI use cases for their industries and driving them to production through strong technical guidance.

In the Digital Native segment, this role helps large and highly sophisticated companies transform their businesses through custom AI applications, including customer service, automated content generation, contextual search, personalization, and other novel use cases leveraging OpenAI's latest models and capabilities.

About the Role

This role partners with customers to help them achieve tangible business value with frontier AI. You will work with senior customer leaders to establish AI strategic roadmaps and identify high-value applications, then partner with engineering and product teams to move solutions from prototype through production.

You will take a holistic view of customer needs and design enterprise architectures using OpenAI APIs and other services to maximize customer value. The role collaborates closely with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Applied Research, and Product.

The role is based in the New York City office and follows a hybrid work model requiring three days per week in the office.

Responsibilities

• Embed deeply with sophisticated and technical platform customers as a technical thought partner in ideating and building novel applications on OpenAI APIs.
• Provide proactive guidance to customers on maximizing business impact and accelerating time to value.
• Experiment with and prototype solutions for customers.
• Build and manage relationships with customer leadership and stakeholders to ensure successful application deployment and scale.
• Contribute to open-source developer and enterprise resources.
• Scale the AI Deployment Engineering function by sharing knowledge, codifying best practices, and publishing cookbooks to internal and external repositories.
• Validate, synthesize, and deliver high-signal feedback to Product, Engineering, and Research teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of technical consulting or equivalent experience.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript.
• Experience building and/or delivering prototypes on top of an API platform.
• Experience leading complex technical projects and programs involving many stakeholders.
• Ability to identify opportunities to maximize customer business value through OpenAI APIs.
• Ability to own problems end-to-end and acquire the knowledge needed to complete the work.
• Excitement about contributing to frontier AI capabilities by consolidating and channeling field feedback to product and applied research teams.
• Humble attitude and eagerness to help others with empathy.
• Ability to manage frequent context switching, multiple projects, expansive ownership, and prioritization in dynamic environments.
• Ability to navigate ambiguity effectively.
