About the team

The AI Deployment Engineer team is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective deployment of Generative AI applications for developers and enterprises. The team acts as a trusted advisor and thought partner for customers, building a backlog of frontier AI use cases and driving them to production through technical guidance. In the Digital Native segment, this work includes custom AI applications such as customer service, automated content generation, contextual search, personalization, and other novel use cases leveraging OpenAI's newest models and capabilities.

About the role

This role partners with customers to ensure they achieve tangible business value with frontier AI. You will work with senior customer leaders to establish AI strategic roadmaps, identify high-value applications, and partner with engineering and product teams to move solutions from prototype to production. The role involves designing enterprise architectures using OpenAI APIs and other services to maximize customer value, and collaborating closely with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Applied Research, and Product.

This role is based in the New York City office and uses a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week. The company offers relocation assistance to new employees.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical thought partner embedded with sophisticated platform customers to ideate and build applications on OpenAI APIs.
• Provide guidance to customers on maximizing business impact and accelerating time to value.
• Experiment and prototype solutions with and for customers.
• Forge and manage relationships with customer leadership and stakeholders to ensure successful deployment and scale of applications.
• Contribute to open-source developer and enterprise resources.
• Scale the AI Deployment Engineering function by sharing knowledge, codifying best practices, and publishing cookbooks to internal and external repositories.
• Validate, synthesize, and deliver high-signal feedback to Product, Engineering, and Research teams.

Requirements

• 5+ years of technical consulting (or equivalent) experience.
• Proficiency in Python and JavaScript.
• Experience building and/or delivering prototypes on top of the OpenAI API platform.
• Experience leading complex technical projects and programs with many stakeholders.
• Ability to identify opportunities to maximize customer business value through OpenAI APIs.
• End-to-end ownership mentality and willingness to learn missing knowledge to achieve outcomes.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to synthesize field feedback for product and research teams.
• Comfortable operating in dynamic environments, managing multiple projects, and prioritizing effectively.

• Base salary range: $197,000 – $278,000 (range may vary by location, experience, and other factors). In addition to base salary, total compensation may include equity and performance-related bonuses for eligible employees.
