Anthropic is seeking an Applied AI Architect to advise governments, AI Safety Institutes, and multilateral institutions on frontier AI. The role involves helping public-sector partners understand, evaluate, and safely adopt leading-edge AI systems in support of their missions.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary technical advisor to senior officials in partner governments, AI Safety Institutes, and international institutions.
  • Brief partners on frontier AI capabilities, including benefits, harms, and safety research.
  • Collaborate with the Policy team to understand partner goals and requirements.
  • Develop demos, pilots, prototypes, and evaluation suites demonstrating how Claude can support public missions, such as cyber defense.
  • Lead technical onboarding, enablement, and hands-on workshops for partner institutions, including national cybersecurity agencies.
  • Guide partners in setup, architecture, and integration using Claude Code and the Claude API.
  • Represent international partners and collaborate with Product and Research teams to deliver needed capabilities.
  • Travel internationally for senior leader meetings, technical enablement, and relationship building.
  • Establish a shared vision for beneficial and safe AI solutions.
  • Lead the vision, strategy, and execution of innovative solutions leveraging the latest AI model capabilities.

Requirements

  • At least 4 years of experience as a Customer Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer, Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Cybersecurity Engineer working with governments, international organizations, or the public sector.
  • Experience in technology policy, AI safety, cybersecurity, or international affairs.
  • Experience designing novel and innovative solutions for technical platforms in developing mission areas.
  • Familiarity with evaluating and testing AI models for safety.
  • Strong technical aptitude and proficiency in at least one programming language, preferably Python.
  • Understanding of and experience with large language model fundamentals.
  • Ability to navigate ambiguity, work across domains, and develop simple, understandable solutions.
  • Strong cross-organizational collaboration and prioritization skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging engineers, technical stakeholders, and senior government officials.
  • Passion for applying technology safely and beneficially to advance safe AI systems.
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The field of study must be relevant to the role through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Compensation

The annual salary range is $240,000–$315,000 USD.

Work Policy and Immigration

Anthropic currently expects staff to work from one of its offices at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office attendance. Anthropic sponsors visas and states that it will make every reasonable effort to obtain a visa for successful candidates, with assistance from an immigration lawyer.
