Details

Lead the team responsible for building the technical foundation for Anthropic's governance, risk, and compliance programs. You will design and implement automated workflows, data pipelines, integrations, policy-as-code systems, and AI-powered workflows that transform manual compliance processes into scalable engineering systems.

This is a greenfield opportunity to establish the team, architecture, and integrations for GRC. The role focuses on aggregating and normalizing compliance information from cloud infrastructure, identity providers, HR platforms, ticketing tools, code repositories, and other systems. You will work closely with Security, IT, and Engineering teams to support audit programs including SOC 2, ISO, HIPAA, and FedRAMP.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the team establishing foundational GRC processes and architecture.
  • Design and build automated workflows for risk management and compliance, including continuous monitoring.
  • Build data pipelines that aggregate risk, control, and asset information from across the technology stack.
  • Map disparate schemas, address inconsistent data quality, and create unified compliance-posture views through dashboards and reporting tools.
  • Inform GRC platform strategy and build tooling that meets compliance requirements.
  • Translate written policies and compliance requirements into policy-as-code, enforceable rules, automated checks, and continuous validation.
  • Establish feedback loops between policy and implementation, identifying gaps between technical controls and written requirements.
  • Design and deploy agentic AI workflows using Claude to automate evidence analysis, monitor control effectiveness, draft audit responses, interpret policy documents, and support risk assessments.
  • Design and maintain integrations with cloud infrastructure, identity management systems, HRIS platforms, ticketing systems, version control, and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Build and lead an AI-forward GRC engineering function, including hiring, engineering practices, and the technical roadmap.

Requirements

  • Systems-thinking capability and experience designing and implementing enterprise-grade internal tools and architectures.
  • Strong experience with data integration, normalization, joining data from multiple sources, and handling inconsistent data and edge cases.
  • Understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, authentication flows, polling and push architectures, and integration evaluation.
  • Ability to independently own complex problems from design through implementation in ambiguous, early-stage environments.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and pragmatic risk prioritization.
  • Familiarity with AWS, GCP, or Azure and extracting compliance-relevant data from cloud APIs and logging systems.
  • Familiarity with Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible, as well as DevSecOps, CI/CD integration, and policy-as-code.
  • Preferred: 12+ years of total experience and 3–4+ years managing technical individual contributors or systems-focused teams.
  • Preferred: Experience building or scaling small security, compliance, automation, or operations teams.
  • Preferred: 5+ years designing, building, and scaling automated workflows, data pipelines, or system integrations.
  • Preferred: Strong technical foundation in Python or a similar language for automation, API integration, and data transformation, with the ability to write, review, and ship production code.
  • Preferred: Experience with AI-powered automation, agentic workflows, or LLM-based operational tooling.
  • Preferred: Experience with GRC platforms such as ServiceNow GRC, Vanta, Drata, OneTrust, RSA Archer, or similar tools, including configuration, customization, and integrations.
  • Preferred: Experience in high-growth startup environments.
  • Minimum education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Compensation

Annual salary: $320,000–$405,000 USD.
