Engineering Manager, Machine Learning - Fraud Detection

The Risk Detection team focuses on providing a delightful experience for merchants, minimizing friction, and ensuring the safety of users in the financial ecosystem. The team works on merchant notifications, guided workflows, risk processes, and experiences that help good merchants resolve issues smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Support the team in delivering a high level of technical quality and impact through APIs, user-facing experiences, services, and systems.
• Recruit, hire, scale, and develop a strong team of engineers.
• Execute cross-functionally with leadership, product teams, infrastructure teams, and risk strategists.
• Be actively involved in strategic direction and platform decisions that impact Stripe and its customers.
• Build relationships with internal and external customers.
• Champion the vision of making Stripe's risk management a feature that attracts and retains merchants and becomes a product differentiator.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

• At least 3 years of engineering management experience.
• Prior experience as a Machine Learning Engineer or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience managing teams that collaborate with product teams, respond rapidly to customer needs, and build strategic and foundational technology and capabilities.
• Enjoy designing, measuring, and improving user experience.
• Empathy for customer needs combined with the ability to develop a long-term vision.
• Comfortable planning in quarters and setting a vision for several years.
• Comfortable working with geographically distributed teams and remote workers.
