Details
The Intelligence and Investigations team works to rapidly detect and disrupt abuse in AI technologies, identify emerging abuse trends, analyze risks, and implement mitigation strategies that support the safe and responsible use of AI.
As an Intelligence Systems Engineer, you will prototype, develop, and maintain tools and processes that integrate OpenAI models and infrastructure to help internal teams analyze large, open-domain datasets, fight abuse, and inform high-stakes decisions. You will serve as a technical bridge between data scientists, subject matter experts, and teams such as Platform Integrity, Safety Systems, and Research.
This role is based in San Francisco, California, and follows a hybrid work model with three days in the office per week.
Responsibilities
- Prototype, build, and maintain at-scale intelligence systems that detect, triage, and monitor targeted signals from open-source and internal data.
- Analyze requirements and deliver end-to-end solutions for complex intelligence challenges while ensuring code quality and scalability.
- Bridge intelligence needs with technical teams including Platform Integrity, Safety Systems, and Research.
- Contribute to the team's technical strategy and design user interfaces for non-technical investigators and analysts.
- Prototype applications that automate team workflows and route leads.
- Report on scaled impact using advanced data analysis and visualization products.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to address their technical intelligence needs.
Requirements
- Experience in engineering and project management, ideally focused on security, intelligence, or data analysis products.
- Strong technical background and a proven track record of building and maintaining systems that help users understand large, open-domain datasets, fight abuse, and inform high-stakes decisions.
- Proficiency in data analysis, SQL, and Python.
- Experience applying novel AI techniques to solve problems.
- Demonstrated ability to work with cross-functional teams, manage complex product ecosystems, and deliver results in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.
- Strong communication skills, commitment to continuous learning, and passion for the responsible use of AI.

- Base salary of $230,000–$325,000 per year.
