Drive the interaction between assets, markets, and real-time trading decisions to optimize performance and value creation. Lead and develop a high-performing team to build a scalable, digital, and future-proof organization at the core of Eneco’s trading operations. Take ownership of Operational Excellence by improving processes, automation, and analytics across the Trade value chain.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of change across Trade and the Virtual Power Plant (VPP) landscape, from onboarding new assets (e.g., battery storage and renewables) to implementing regulatory and market-driven changes.
• Act as gatekeeper for operational readiness and ensure operational requirements are embedded early in commercial negotiations.
• Lead development of analytics and data science capabilities to translate operational and trading data into actionable insights.
• Build and scale monitoring, reporting, and performance steering frameworks; develop dashboards with Operations; and deliver analytical and optimisation models across various asset types.
• Structure and prioritise demand from trading, commercial teams, asset management, and operations into clear deliverables for IT and development teams.
• Drive performance, reliability, efficiency, scalability, automation, and standardisation of the VPP and wider Trade IT landscape.
• Lead major transformation initiatives including phase-out of legacy platforms and improvements in data quality, transparency, and automation across the financial value chain (supporting settlement domain and FinOps program).
• Lead and develop a team of ~20 professionals, focusing on capability building, scalability, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate closely with trading desks, 24/7 operations, Tech, commercial teams, business development, and external partners as a senior sparring partner.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in a technical, analytical, or operational field.
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in operations, energy markets, and/or technology-driven environments.
• Proven experience building and leading analytics capabilities in complex, data-rich environments (deep-dive analyses, dashboards/monitoring, translating data into business impact).
• Strong continuous improvement mindset and experience developing an Operational Excellence culture.
• Proven experience in managing teams with a strong focus on people development and capability building.
• Ability to operate at strategic, tactical, and operational levels and to connect technical and business stakeholders effectively.
• Strong analytical skills; able to translate complex topics into practical, scalable solutions.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; decisive ownership and ability to prioritise under pressure.
• Important: good command, both written and spoken, of the Dutch language is required.

Where you'll work

• You will work within Eneco Trade in a dynamic trading environment based at Eneco World (Rotterdam). The role involves working with a diverse team and occasionally flexible working hours due to dynamic operations.
