Details

Drive the energy transition by optimizing the interaction between assets, markets, and real-time trading decisions. Lead a high-performing team and develop a scalable, digital, and future-proof organization at the core of Eneco’s trading operations. Own operational excellence through continuous improvement, process automation, analytics, and performance management across the value chain.

Responsibilities

  • Drive strategic change realization within Eneco Trade and develop data-driven capabilities across Trade Operations & IT.
  • Integrate new assets, products, and regulatory or market-driven changes into the Trade and Virtual Power Plant (VPP) landscape.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of change, including onboarding battery storage (BESS) and renewable assets, ensuring delivery on time and to the required quality.
  • Act as the gatekeeper for operational readiness and ensure operational requirements are incorporated early in commercial negotiations.
  • Lead the development of analytics and data science capabilities that translate operational and trading data into actionable insights.
  • Build and scale monitoring, reporting, performance steering frameworks, and dashboards in collaboration with Operations.
  • Deliver analytical and optimization models across a broad range of asset types to support asset optimization, real-time decision-making, and performance improvement.
  • Connect business and technology by translating demand from trading, commercial teams, asset management, and operations into clear deliverables for IT and development teams.
  • Prioritize short-term operational needs and longer-term strategic priorities within the Value Chains and Tech operating model.
  • Ensure the reliability, efficiency, and scalability of the Virtual Power Plant and wider Trade IT landscape.
  • Drive automation, standardization, data quality, transparency, and continuous improvement.
  • Support major transformation initiatives, including legacy platform phase-out, settlement improvements, and the FinOps program.
  • Lead a team of approximately 20 professionals across four domains, focusing on capability building, digital skills, scalability, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with trading desks, 24/7 operations, Tech, commercial teams, business development, and external partners.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a technical, analytical, or operational field.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in operations, energy markets, and/or technology-driven environments.
  • Experience developing an Operational Excellence culture in teams.
  • Proven team management experience and a strong focus on people development and capability building.
  • Ability to operate at strategic, tactical, and operational levels and connect technical and business stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to translate complex topics into practical, scalable solutions.
  • Proven experience building and leading analytics capabilities in a complex, data-rich environment.
  • Experience delivering deep-dive analyses, developing dashboards and monitoring solutions, and translating data into business impact.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to take ownership, make decisions, and prioritize effectively under pressure.
  • Good command of written and spoken Dutch is required.
  • An online assessment and pre-employment screening are part of the application procedure.

Work Environment

The position is based within Eneco Trade in Rotterdam, in an innovative and complex IT environment. The role involves flexible working hours because operations can be dynamic. Eneco follows a modern way of working and offers the option to work from home when the role allows it.
