Details

Bloomberg's Data team delivers data, news, and analytics through innovative technology. The Data Enrichment team supports Bloomberg Industry Group's legal research products, including BCITE and Precedent Search, by ensuring that caselaw and transactional data meets high quality standards.

This role combines legal expertise with technology, data analysis, workflow improvement, and collaboration with engineering and machine learning teams. The successful candidate will analyze legal documents, provide subject-matter guidance, and help develop technical solutions and product improvements.

Responsibilities

Analyze caselaw, agency, and transactional documents and serve as a legal subject-matter guide capable of driving internal technical solutions.
Manage vendor teams to ensure quality performance and consistency with service-level agreements.
Collaborate with legal data analysts, Engineering, and Bloomberg Industry Group staff to develop creative solutions to technical challenges.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency in existing workflows and processes.
Collaborate with partners to gather requirements, define scope, and develop project plans.
Partner with engineering and machine learning experts to explore new technologies and support product innovation.

Requirements

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
Passed a state bar examination and admission to the bar.
Familiarity with online legal research tools; experience with the BLAW product is a plus.
Strong analytical, written, and presentation skills.
Willingness to travel internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

One to three years of professional work experience, with a demonstrated interest in legal research, analysis, and creative problem-solving.
Judicial clerkship experience.
Interest in building technology skills, including learning data analysis tools such as Excel and Python.
Interest in exploring how generative AI can improve productivity, problem-solving, and innovation.
Experience with process reengineering or improving and enhancing existing processes.
