Details
The CX Intelligence team at Coinbase builds customer-facing and internal customer experience systems connecting the Help Center, chatbots, and agent workflows. The team owns a multi-agent platform supporting Coinbase chat, the Help Center, and agent tooling, partnering with Conversation Design, CX, and engineering teams to deliver secure, compliant, and scalable AI-powered support.
This role will help evolve Coinbase's conversational ecosystem by building a seamless hybrid vendor-internal chatbot experience. The work includes designing and implementing a unified orchestration layer that coordinates interactions between vendor AI, internal multi-agent systems, and human participants.
Responsibilities
- Build and improve an orchestration layer that manages state transitions, context sharing, and intent routing across vendor and internal LLM frameworks in a distributed conversational environment.
- Develop production-grade Python services that connect advanced AI and machine learning capabilities with reliable customer-facing products.
- Drive well-scoped machine learning projects from design through delivery, balancing technical trade-offs and collaborating across teams.
- Contribute to system design, coding standards, and AI/ML development best practices.
- Partner with engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to build secure, scalable, and high-performing AI-enabled experiences.
- Participate in design reviews and help ensure features meet Coinbase standards for security, compliance, and performance.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional experience in machine learning and software engineering, including experience shipping production-grade ML services.
- Hands-on experience with modern AI architectures such as large language models and deep learning.
- Familiarity with tools such as LangGraph, LangSmith, Google ADK, Vertex AI, or AWS Bedrock.
- Strong proficiency in Python and the ability to write clean, maintainable, well-tested production code.
- Working knowledge of at least one domain such as natural language processing, information retrieval, computer vision, or statistical modeling.
- Ability to write technical design documents and clearly communicate machine learning system designs to cross-functional stakeholders.
- Ability to use generative AI responsibly, applying human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and measurable improvements in efficiency, cost, and quality.
Additional Information
Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Employees should expect quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.” The annual base salary range excludes equity and bonus eligibility. Total compensation may also include equity, bonuses, and medical, dental, and vision benefits.
