Details

SentinelOne is seeking a Manager, Detection Engineering to lead its Rapid Response Team (RRT). The RRT is responsible for delivering fast, reliable detection coverage across emerging and actively exploited threats, critical vulnerabilities, supply chain attacks, and detection gaps identified through customer escalations, internal research, and threat intelligence.

This is a hands-on technical leadership and people management role. The manager will personally contribute to detection engineering, establish technical standards through rule development and code review, and own the health, throughput, and direction of a specialized detection engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Personally develop, review, and drive detections through merge and release, particularly during threat surges and for complex threats.
  • Lead, coach, and grow a team of five or more Senior to Staff detection engineers, including hiring, professional development, performance management, and day-to-day operations.
  • Own the RRT operational cadence, including threat triage and prioritization, SLO adherence, incident coordination, and workload balancing across concurrent threats.
  • Protect team focus and capacity by shielding engineers from unscoped demand while ensuring high-priority work meets target turnaround times.
  • Develop cross-functional partnerships and represent the team in forums that promote accountability, surface emerging threats, and communicate impact to leadership.
  • Own and evolve the team roadmap, process documentation, service charter, and metrics.
  • Champion detection automation and tooling to increase engineering output and align the automation roadmap with team needs.
  • Communicate the RRT's work, coverage, and outcomes transparently to stakeholders, partner teams, and detection leadership.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading or mentoring a detection engineering, threat detection, or SOC-adjacent team. Direct people management experience is preferred, although strong technical leads ready to transition into management may also be considered.
  • Current, hands-on detection engineering expertise, including writing, reviewing, and tuning detection rules and understanding the complete detection lifecycle and false-negative and false-positive feedback loops.
  • Strong hands-on experience with GitHub and detection-as-code pipelines, including pull requests, code review, and merge-to-release workflows.
  • Experience developing detections across multiple engines, such as endpoint behavioral, signature-based engines including YARA, and cloud or SIEM-based engines across multiple data sources, or the ability to quickly learn additional engines.
  • Experience developing detections at a product or vendor company serving multiple customers and industries.
  • Strong understanding of adversary behavior, MITRE ATT&CK, ransomware, and in-the-wild campaigns.
  • Experience working in fast-moving, SLO-driven environments with competing priorities and responding to emerging threats outside a traditional schedule when required.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to represent a technical team to senior leadership and partner teams.
  • Experience establishing or maturing team processes, metrics, and documentation.
  • Familiarity with intake and triage workflows and detection automation tooling is a plus.

Benefits

  • Restricted Stock Units (RSUs)
  • Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP)
  • Flexible time off, paid company holidays, and paid sick time
  • Gender-neutral parental leave and grandparent leave
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage
  • 401(k) retirement plan with company match
  • Life and disability insurance
