Details
The Solutions Engineering team consists of trusted technical advisors who help organizations adopt OpenAI’s technology safely, effectively, and responsibly. The Field Security Specialists function helps security leaders and practitioners apply OpenAI models, APIs, Codex, agentic workflows, and emerging cyber capabilities to real defensive challenges.
Responsibilities
- Hire, coach, develop, and lead a high-performing team of Field Security Specialists.
- Establish the team’s strategy, operating model, engagement criteria, coverage priorities, and customer-delivery standards.
- Prioritize specialist capacity across strategic customers, regions, and approved partner opportunities.
- Lead discovery with CISOs, security executives, engineering leaders, and hands-on practitioners to identify high-value AI-enabled security workflows.
- Set quality standards for demonstrations, workshops, reference architectures, pilots, evaluations, integrations, and implementation guidance.
- Ensure engagements include clear success criteria, appropriate data boundaries, validated findings, safe testing, auditability, and human approval for consequential actions.
- Coach the team to distinguish evidence-backed security outcomes from unvalidated findings or overstated model capabilities.
- Partner with Sales, Solutions Engineering, AI Deployment Engineering, Product, Engineering, Research, Security, Legal, and GRC.
- Define qualification, escalation, engagement, and handoff practices across pre-sales and post-sales teams.
- Turn successful customer engagements into repeatable cyber plays, technical assets, enablement, and actionable product feedback.
- Represent field perspectives in product and security discussions, surfacing customer requirements, blockers, and emerging use cases.
The role covers CISO-level strategy, practitioner-level cybersecurity challenges, and hands-on solution design across application security, secure software development, vulnerability management, threat modeling, cloud and identity security, SOC operations, detection engineering, incident response, and security validation. It is a customer-facing leadership role rather than an internal CISO or corporate incident-response position.
Requirements
- Meaningful leadership experience in a customer-facing technical security, cybersecurity consulting, or solutions engineering team.
- Experience hiring, coaching, developing, and performance-managing highly technical team members.
- Cybersecurity practitioner credibility, including the ability to reason through threat models, trust boundaries, attack paths, exploitability, false positives, and safe remediation.
- Strong customer and commercial judgment across discovery, qualification, demonstrations, pilots, executive objections, adoption, and expansion.
- Ability to connect a CISO’s business-risk priorities with a security practitioner’s technical evidence.
- Hands-on technical fluency with code, APIs, GitHub workflows, CI/CD systems, security tooling, agent architectures, integrations, and evaluation approaches.
- Understanding of AI workflows involving retrieval, structured outputs, tool calling, evaluations, guardrails, telemetry, sandboxing, and human review.
- Evidence-based and integrity-focused approach to customer data, authorized testing, security claims, and high-consequence capabilities.
- Ability to allocate scarce specialist resources thoughtfully and create reusable leverage for the broader field.
- Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and build new teams, processes, and customer motions from the ground up.
- Clear communication with technical, executive, and cross-functional audiences.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with OpenAI’s models, APIs, Codex, Codex Security, Daybreak, or related cyber capabilities.
- Experience working with security-product companies, global systems integrators, or cybersecurity partners.
- Depth in application security, cloud security, identity, secure SDLC, vulnerability management, detection and response, or attacker tradecraft.
- Experience developing repeatable field assets, technical enablement, or product feedback mechanisms across multiple regions.
Success Measures
During the first year, success includes building a high-performing and inclusive specialist team with clear engagement standards, predictable field coverage, and strong partnerships across Sales, Product, Security, and deployment teams. Customer work should progress from demonstrations to validated findings, human-reviewed remediation, durable implementation, and measurable risk reduction, while producing reusable cyber plays and high-signal product learning.
Benefits
- Base salary of €224,000–€248,000 per year, plus equity.
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with employer contributions to Health Savings Accounts.
- Pre-tax flexible spending and commuter accounts.
- 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
- Paid parental, medical, and caregiver leave.
- Paid time off, company holidays, and office closures.
- Mental health and wellness support.
- Employer-paid basic life and disability coverage.
- Annual learning and development stipend.
- Daily office meals and eligible meal delivery credits.
- Relocation support for eligible employees.
- Additional benefits may include charitable donation matching and wellness stipends.
The role is based in Dublin and follows a hybrid work model requiring three days in the office per week.
