The Bloomberg Alternative Data team is a fast-growing product group building data and analytics for company research and intelligence. The team is seeking a Product Manager to own dataset evaluation and onboarding, including assessing external datasets against product strategy and turning contracted data into production-ready capabilities.

This role works across product leadership, engineering, data science, sales, clients, data providers, and the broader vendor ecosystem. It involves managing evaluation systems, making data investment decisions, and onboarding new data sources at scale.

Responsibilities

Own the Dataset Evaluation Process

  • Manage the evaluation pipeline end-to-end, including prioritization, timelines, and throughput across concurrent evaluations.
  • Translate product strategy requirements into structured evaluation frameworks, including assessment criteria, methodology, and outputs.
  • Collaborate with the engineering evaluations team by setting requirements for analytical work and ensuring results are transparent and decision-ready for product leadership.
  • Engage directly with data providers during evaluations to resolve questions and gather required information.
  • Improve, standardize, streamline, and productize evaluation workflows to increase speed, rigor, and scalability.

Drive Data Onboarding and Productization

  • Own end-to-end onboarding plans for newly contracted datasets, including delivery and technical requirements, dependencies, launch criteria, and timelines.
  • Translate product and business requirements into precise, implementation-ready data and operational specifications.
  • Define and manage ongoing data quality monitoring for onboarded datasets to ensure production reliability after launch.
  • Drive cross-functional execution with data scientists, engineers, data scouts, other product managers, and data vendors.

Define and Own Success Metrics

  • Establish and rigorously track metrics for evaluation throughput, onboarding speed, and data quality.
  • Assess and improve the efficiency and scalability of evaluation and onboarding processes.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product experience, including meaningful experience with alternative data products.
  • Strong understanding of alternative data and how institutional investors use it.
  • Experience building or managing structured analytical or operational processes, ideally involving data evaluation, data quality, or data onboarding.
  • Hands-on experience working with data, including data quality frameworks, QA practices, and the operational realities of delivering reliable data at scale.
  • Ability to translate high-level product requirements into detailed operational and technical specifications.
  • Experience working directly with data engineers, data scientists, and cross-functional stakeholders in large organizations.
  • Experience working directly with third-party data vendors or managing external data provider relationships.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, decision-ready outputs for product leadership and external partners.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage concurrent evaluation and onboarding workstreams while maintaining timelines and quality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Product management experience building data, analytics, or research platforms.
  • Experience operating in large organizations with multiple stakeholders.

Benefits

Benefits may include merit increases, incentive compensation for exempt roles, paid holidays, paid time off, medical, dental and vision coverage, short- and long-term disability benefits, 401(k) matching, life insurance, and wellness programs. The role offers benefits and bonus opportunities.
