Details
The Personal AGI team develops and deploys frontier AI models for ChatGPT, the API, and future products. The team focuses on model behavior, personalization, safety, factuality, instruction following, personality, interactivity, multilingual fluency, world interaction, and agents.
The North Stars team works on AI-enabled experiences, including tool use, feature discovery, connectors, and instruction following. The role focuses on identifying bottlenecks in model behavior and translating insights into evaluations, training data, reward signals, and model and harness improvements.
This role is based in San Francisco, California, with a hybrid work model requiring three days in the office per week.
Responsibilities
- Own and pursue a research agenda to improve model capability and performance.
- Collaborate closely with research and product teams.
- Build robust evaluations for tracking modeling improvements.
- Design, implement, test, and debug code across the research stack.
- Contribute to enabling customers to optimize their own models.
Requirements
- Deep understanding of machine learning and machine learning applications.
- Working knowledge of relevant models and building evaluations for model capability improvement.
- Ability to work in and debug a large machine learning codebase.
- Comfort working in a dynamic and technically complex environment.
- Strong machine learning engineering skills and research experience.
- Passion for creative, product-driven research.
