Details

The Design System team owns Click UI, the open-source design system of ClickHouse. It is the shared UI foundation for ClickHouse Cloud and several other projects. The team operates the system as a service and as the entry point for ClickHouse UI work, focusing on accessible, performant, well-documented, token-driven React components that address complex product requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Research, build, and maintain accessible React components and their APIs using headless accessibility primitives compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA.
  • Implement keyboard interaction, focus management, and theming as part of each component.
  • Enhance the component library, focusing on consistent and intuitive component APIs and developer experience improvements.
  • Enable complex migrations using codemods and semantic versioning.
  • Maintain shared infrastructure, including Storybook, unit tests, interaction and end-to-end tests, visual regression tests, accessibility gates, and the release process.
  • Drive adoption through high-quality documentation, usage guidelines, migration guides, issue intake and triage, including open-source issues, and code reviews with product teams.
  • Build an AI-assisted layer for Figma-to-code, component scaffolding, and guardrails that keep AI-generated UI on-token, on-pattern, and accessible.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of frontend engineering experience.
  • Experience building or maintaining a production design system used by multiple teams, including handling migrations and breaking changes.
  • Deep knowledge of React, TypeScript, semantic HTML, and CSS architecture at scale, including SASS, CSS Modules, CSS variables, and CSS-in-JS.
  • Experience with component API design, including atomic design, composition, controlled and uncontrolled components, and polymorphic patterns.
  • Experience with headless primitives such as React Aria, Ark UI, or Radix.
  • Working knowledge of WCAG 2.x and WAI-ARIA, with the ability to implement and test keyboard navigation, focus management, and screen-reader behavior.
  • Experience with design-token architecture and tools such as Style Dictionary, Terrazzo, DTCG, or equivalent, as well as Figma variables synchronization.
  • A product mindset toward design systems and internal customers.
  • Ability to write clear documentation, review library-wide consistency, mentor through code review, and measure success by adoption.
  • Fluency in Figma and experience using AI coding tools such as Claude Code or Cursor.
  • Ideal backgrounds include design system or UI/UX platform teams at developer tools, B2B SaaS, or cloud-platform companies, or frontend platform roles supporting a shared UI library and multiple teams.

Benefits

  • Flexible work environment at a globally distributed, remote-friendly company operating in more than 25 countries.
  • Employer healthcare contributions.
  • Stock options for every new team member.
  • Flexible time off in the United States and generous entitlement in other countries.
  • USD 500 home-office setup allowance for remote employees.
