Senior Frontend Engineer, Portfolio

Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Employees are expected to meet quarterly for in-person working sessions called “surges.”

The Portfolio team within the Consumer & Business group owns the balances, holdings, and profit-and-loss experiences at the core of the Coinbase app and website. The team turns complex, real-time financial data into clear experiences for Coinbase users, from first-time buyers to sophisticated traders.

Responsibilities

• Own the design and delivery of core Portfolio experiences, including balances, holdings, and PnL, across web using React and TypeScript and native mobile platforms including iOS and Android.
• Build performant, accessible, pixel-accurate user interfaces that render real-time financial data at Coinbase scale.
• Partner with backend, design, and product teams to take ambiguous problems from scoping through production rollout.
• Drive frontend architecture and quality, including component reuse, state management, testing, and performance instrumentation.
• Strengthen the team's engineering standards through rigorous code reviews, technical mentorship, and well-documented architecture decisions.

Requirements

• 5+ years of frontend engineering experience building consumer-facing web applications with high-quality, well-tested production code.
• Deep expertise in React and TypeScript, with strong command of modern frontend fundamentals, including state management, rendering performance, and accessibility.
• A track record of shipping and owning complex features end-to-end in production, ideally in financial, trading, or other data-intensive applications where accuracy and latency matter.
• Demonstrated experience building real-time or high-throughput user interfaces and integrating with backend APIs using REST or GraphQL.
• Consistent collaboration with design and product partners to shape product outcomes.
• Responsible use of generative AI, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Compensation

• Annual base salary: $186,065–$218,900 USD.
• Total compensation may also include equity, bonus eligibility, and medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits.
