Senior Product Manager, Payments

Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Employees are expected to meet quarterly for in-person working sessions called “surges.”

As a Senior Product Manager on the Payments Platform team within the Platform product group, you will own how customers add and use bank accounts, cards, and digital wallets on Coinbase. The Payments Platform builds and runs systems that move customer money in and out of Coinbase, including bank transfers, card payments, wires, and real-time payment rails. The role directly impacts revenue and customer trust.

Responsibilities

• Own the multi-year strategy and roadmap for how customers add and use bank accounts, cards, and digital wallets, including the full funnel from the first screen through linking, verification, and failure recovery.
• Drive intelligent routing of payment onboarding across multiple payment service providers and banks, selecting the path most likely to succeed and least expensive to operate.
• Shape the approach for confirming that a payment method belongs to the customer, partnering with Risk and Compliance to balance fraud loss and conversion.
• Partner with Business Development and external bank and processor partners on commercial terms, integrations, and new payment capabilities.
• Lead payment method cost and performance reporting end to end, surfacing tradeoffs to senior leadership.
• Build reusable platform capabilities that other product teams can use without rebuilding the underlying systems.

Requirements

• 7+ years of product management experience with depth in payments, money movement, or financial platforms.
• Track record of owning a payment or money movement funnel end to end at scale with measurable results.
• Working knowledge of card payments and bank transfers, including declines, retries, verification, tokenization, and routing.
• Ability to work deeply with engineers on service architecture, APIs, and routing logic.
• Strong analytical instincts, including experience designing experiments and evaluating tradeoffs.
• Ability to use generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight while delivering business-ready outputs and improving workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual base salary: $207,485–$244,100 USD, excluding equity and bonus.
• Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility.
• Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
