Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Employees are expected to meet quarterly for in-person working sessions called “surges.”

As the Senior User Researcher on the Advanced Trade team within the Consumer & Business group, you will be the dedicated research voice for Coinbase’s most sophisticated traders. The Advanced Trade team builds and improves trading experiences for high-volume, analytical traders, competing directly with top global exchanges. You will generate deep user empathy through mixed-methods research, directly shaping roadmap prioritization, feature design, and scalable research programs that keep the team embedded in trader needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead the UX research function for the Advanced Trade team, partnering closely with Design, Product, and Data to turn user insights into actionable product ideas and measurable impact.
• Conduct mixed-methods research, including interviews, usability testing, concept testing, surveys, and in-product feedback using Sprig, tailored to sophisticated and hard-to-reach trader populations.
• Synthesize qualitative findings with quantitative data and analytics to produce clear research reports with actionable design and product recommendations.
• Build and maintain scalable research programs, including customer councils, self-serve testing cadences, and sales insight synthesis, to keep the team continuously connected to user needs.
• Guide stakeholders across product, design, and data in translating research insights into roadmap priorities and experiment hypotheses.

Requirements

• 5+ years of user research experience, including serving as the primary research point of contact for a large product area with multiple stakeholders.
• Proven ability to design and execute research with sophisticated, hard-to-reach populations, such as professional or high-frequency traders.
• Fluency in quantitative data and experimentation, with the ability to synthesize qualitative insights with metrics to influence product strategy.
• Track record of independently managing research prioritization across competing stakeholder needs while guiding designers and product managers through their own research efforts.
• Familiarity with crypto trading, financial markets, or trading platforms is preferred but not required.
• Ability to utilize generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Compensation and Benefits

• Annual base salary: $167,280–$196,800 USD, varying by location and excluding equity and bonus.
• Total compensation may also include equity and bonus eligibility.
• Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and 401(k).
