Reddit's Brand Ad Formats team develops high-visibility, awareness-driven advertising solutions, including fully customizable interactive formats, AI-driven ads incorporating user-generated content, and video ads. The team is focused on making Reddit a leading platform for advertisers promoting video content.

As a Staff Android Engineer, you will lead the technical strategy for Reddit's Video Ads offering and provide technical guidance on new Reddit-specific ad formats for Android. You will help ensure that these experiences are high-performance, high-quality, and scalable.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product and Design to develop a roadmap for transforming Video Ads into an industry-leading format.
• Drive the technical design and execution of projects supporting the Video Ads roadmap.
• Provide technical guidance for video ads and Reddit-specific ad formats that scale to millions of users.
• Establish Android best practices and conduct design reviews.
• Lead the full development lifecycle, from discovery and prototyping through testing, data-driven experimentation, and deployment.
• Mentor senior engineers across teams in ad formats.
• Establish best practices for design, testing, and operational excellence.
• Advocate for customers and lead by example.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of deep Android expertise using Kotlin and modern Android architectural patterns.
• Completion of at least four Android development projects from ideation through production deployment.
• Prior experience in ad tech and building highly interactive or rich-media mobile experiences.
• A track record of delivering user-facing features where UI polish and performance are critical.
• Ability to navigate complex, data-intensive environments and build fault-tolerant client-side systems.
• Experience using generative AI tools to increase software engineering productivity.
• Fluency with product metrics and designing and analyzing experiments, with exposure to tools such as BigQuery, HEX, and Firebase.
• Willingness to work across the stack and explore innovative approaches, including AI/ML integration.
• Self-directed, innovative, action-oriented approach and comfort working in ambiguity.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a fully remote environment, including the ability to discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong technical leadership experience, including mentoring and developing team members.
• Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position is $217,000–$303,900 USD. The role is also eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units and, depending on the position offered, may be eligible for a commission. Final offer amounts may vary based on skills, work experience, and relevant credentials.
