Coinbase is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Tokens & Wrapped Assets team within the Platform organization. The team builds and operates the platform that issues, wraps, and transforms assets across Ethereum, Base, and Solana, including wrapped assets such as cbBTC. The role involves owning complex projects end to end, from smart contracts and APIs through production rollout, while designing and operating Go services that mint, burn, bridge, and reconcile wrapped assets across chains.

Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only, company. Employees are expected to participate in quarterly in-person working sessions called “surges.”

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end delivery of complex token and wrapped asset initiatives, from smart contract deployment through API design, SLOs, and production rollout across multiple chains.
• Build and operate Go services and smart contracts that mint, burn, bridge, and reconcile wrapped assets, ensuring correctness across on-chain and off-chain systems.
• Improve the asset transformation and migration pipeline to make launching, upgrading, and migrating tokens at scale faster and safer.
• Partner with Trading, Custody, USDC, Compliance, and the broader crypto stack to deliver customer- and revenue-impacting work.
• Lead on-call ownership for team services by building observability, runbooks, and operational improvements that keep Tier-0 systems reliable.
• Onboard and coach junior engineers, contribute to design reviews, and establish engineering patterns that raise the technical bar.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language; Go is preferred.
• Experience designing, building, and operating production backend services at scale.
• Hands-on blockchain experience through smart contract development using Solidity/EVM, on-chain integrations, or services that transact on-chain.
• Experience with distributed systems patterns, including APIs, event-driven architectures, data reconciliation, and on-call ownership.
• Demonstrated ability to own complex projects autonomously in fast-moving, multi-chain or multi-system environments.
• Ability to use generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight while delivering business-ready outputs and measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Compensation

• Annual base salary: $186,065–$218,900 USD, excluding equity and bonus.
• Total compensation may also include equity, bonus eligibility, and medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits.
