Coinbase is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join the Wallets, Liquidity & Bridging team within the Platform organization. The team builds and operates wallet systems, liquidity orchestration, and bridging infrastructure that moves crypto assets across more than 55 blockchain protocols for millions of users. The role focuses on designing and building distributed backend systems that construct, sign, broadcast, and reconcile on-chain transactions, with an emphasis on reliability, correctness, and multi-chain scalability.

Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only, company. Employees are expected to meet quarterly for in-person working sessions called “surges.”

Responsibilities

Own the design and delivery of Go backend services supporting wallet operations, liquidity movements, and cross-chain bridging across custodial and non-custodial flows.
Build and improve distributed systems managing transaction lifecycle, signing, broadcasting, and on-chain reconciliation across blockchain protocols including Ethereum, Bitcoin, and Solana.
Drive reliability and observability improvements for wallet services, including incident response, post-mortems, and systemic fixes that strengthen Tier-0 system availability.
Partner with Trading, Custody, Staking, and cross-platform teams to integrate wallet services with downstream products, define clear contracts, and resolve cross-team dependencies.
Execute service decomposition and architecture improvements to break legacy systems into modular, reusable platform services.
Support engineering quality through rigorous code reviews, design feedback, and knowledge sharing on architectural patterns and coding standards.

Requirements

5+ years of software engineering experience.
Proficiency in Go and hands-on experience designing and operating service-oriented distributed systems.
Experience building, scaling, and maintaining production backend services with strict correctness and reliability requirements.
Familiarity with blockchain technologies such as transaction construction, on-chain data indexing, or cross-chain integrations involving Ethereum, Bitcoin, or Solana.
Experience decomposing monolithic systems into scalable microservices or contributing to platform architecture used by multiple teams.
Ability to collaborate across teams, communicate technical trade-offs clearly, and drive projects from design through production with autonomy.
Ability to use generative AI responsibly, maintain human oversight, and deliver business-ready outputs that improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Compensation

The annual base salary range is $186,065–$218,900 USD, excluding equity and bonus. Total compensation may also include equity, bonus eligibility, and medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits.
