Details

Bloomberg's CSP Voice Platform team builds and operates a global voice and call center platform that connects clients with customer support teams. The platform handles approximately 2 million client calls each year, provides automated call distribution, and supports voice-enabled applications such as login validation, automated outage notifications, and on-call updates.

The team develops APIs, services, infrastructure, data pipelines, and analytics capabilities that enable other engineering teams to integrate voice functionality into their products and help customer support teams improve operations. The systems operate globally 24x7 and require high availability, fault tolerance, scalability, observability, and resilience through infrastructure failures, traffic spikes, deployments, and unexpected events.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, deploy, and operate large-scale distributed systems.
  • Develop backend services, real-time workflows, APIs, data pipelines, and platform infrastructure.
  • Work across the full project life cycle, from understanding client and business needs through architecture, implementation, deployment, and production ownership.
  • Help evolve platform architecture, APIs, engineering practices, and approaches to building voice-enabled applications.
  • Solve complex systems problems involving reliability, observability, scalability, and 24x7 operation.
  • Partner with business and product stakeholders to drive product vision.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote knowledge sharing across the group.
  • Continuously improve systems, processes, and the overall engineering experience.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience designing and building large-scale, highly available, and fault-tolerant systems.
  • 5+ years of experience working with an object-oriented programming language such as C++, Java/Kotlin, or Python.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of delivering practical, maintainable solutions.
  • Passion for ownership, reliability, and building systems that users depend on.
  • Ability to understand and break down complex, ambiguous problems and communicate efficiently.
  • Experience with Java/Kotlin and Spring, Micronaut, or Quarkus is desirable.
  • Experience with Cisco Telephony API, JTAPI, or SIP is desirable.

Benefits

The compensation package may include benefits such as merit increases, incentive compensation for exempt roles, paid holidays, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability benefits, a 401(k) match, life insurance, and wellness programs.
