Details

The Customer Distribution Infrastructure team owns Bloomberg’s foundational customer data system of record, powering internal business functions and client-facing experiences. The platform provides instant, reliable customer data delivery across Bloomberg, supporting terminal workflows, trading platforms, and enterprise applications such as the Bloomberg Customer Portal.

The team builds and maintains high-availability systems for enterprise-wide customer data propagation, low-latency access, high-throughput caching, data compliance, privacy controls, resilient messaging, event propagation, and database replication.

Responsibilities

  • Scale local and remote caching layers using C++, Python, and GraphQL to ensure low-latency data retrieval.
  • Architect Kubernetes-friendly caching solutions and infrastructure patterns for cloud-native clients.
  • Revamp the Customer Record data model to support evolving business processes.
  • Implement data governance and compliance frameworks that enforce strict privacy and security.
  • Optimize update flows, queue-based event propagation, and database replication while eliminating race conditions.
  • Establish strict SLOs and SLAs and build observability frameworks using Grafana dashboards, alerting, and latency analysis.
  • Design and evolve high-throughput, fault-tolerant infrastructure operating across thousands of machines and billions of daily transactions.
  • Partner with application teams and stakeholders to develop data propagation and access patterns that balance governance with performance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience designing, developing, and releasing high-quality software using Python, C++, C#, and/or TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience building high-scale caching platforms or data access layers.
  • Experience with message brokers, distributed caching, and relational databases, such as RabbitMQ, Redis, Comdb2, SQL Server, and GraphQL.
  • Expertise in system design, data modeling, and API design.
  • Strong fundamentals in low-latency data access and caching mechanisms.
  • Experience with performance tuning, memory management, and deep latency and error analysis.
  • A high standard for software maturity, operational resilience, and data governance.
  • Strong ownership, collaboration, performance focus, and proactive contribution to observability, architectural standards, and development processes.

Benefits

Annual compensation includes benefits and bonus. Benefits may include merit increases, incentive compensation for exempt roles, paid holidays, paid time off, medical, dental, vision, short- and long-term disability benefits, a 401(k) match, life insurance, and wellness programs.
