Bloomberg’s Login Platform team builds secure, seamless access infrastructure for clients and employees. The team develops fast, secure, resilient, and highly available systems capable of handling large volumes of authentication traffic around the clock.

The team owns company-wide and client-facing Single Sign-On (SSO) infrastructure, identity brokering, self-service tooling for SSO integration management and troubleshooting, customer credentials management, and impersonation and delegation access.

The role will contribute to modernizing and unifying Bloomberg’s authentication landscape for a modern identity ecosystem, directly affecting the experience of Bloomberg employees and clients worldwide.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of Bloomberg’s next-generation authentication systems, aligning with future product goals.
  • Create scalable, end-to-end identity solutions across web, API, and proprietary technologies.
  • Build tools that simplify authentication integration for internal and external teams while ensuring applications have a high level of default security.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners across product, design, and engineering.
  • Contribute to a culture of collaboration and continuous learning through security architecture engagement, peer knowledge-sharing sessions, internal meetups, and industry conferences.

Requirements

  • Experience guiding the architecture of large-scale systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Four or more years of experience working with an object-oriented programming language such as C, C++, Python, Java, or Go.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a similar field, or equivalent work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Expertise in security and authentication concepts.
  • Experience with authentication and authorization protocols, especially OAuth and OIDC.
  • Experience developing or operating OpenID Providers, Authorization Servers, and Identity Providers.
  • Experience working on delegated access.
  • Experience designing, building, or configuring federated identity management systems or identity brokers.
  • Deep understanding of OAuth, OIDC, SAML, FIDO, or similar protocols.
  • Experience with open authentication standards such as the Continuous Access Evaluation Protocol, Shared Signals Framework, or Zero Trust Architecture.
  • Experience building and maintaining mission-critical infrastructure.
  • Experience building and scaling distributed systems.
  • Experience championing company-wide standards for security practices.
  • Participation in public authentication standards development or academic research.
  • Presentations at security conferences.
  • Certification or experience in penetration testing and cybersecurity.

Compensation

  • Salary: $160,000–$240,000 USD annually.
