Details

The Monetization Data Systems team builds trusted data and product systems that support the development, measurement, and improvement of monetization products. The team brings together product usage, pricing, billing, ads, payments, and financial data to help Product, Engineering, Finance, and go-to-market teams make better decisions and deliver reliable customer experiences.

This role involves designing and building the next generation of the monetization data platform. The engineer will own high-impact platform systems end to end, including architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, observability, and ongoing operations. The role partners with Product, Data, Finance, Accounting, and GTM teams to solve ambiguous customer and business problems and build durable, scalable systems.

Responsibilities

  • Design, improve, and operate reliable, scalable backend services supporting pricing, billing, ads, payments, entitlements, and other monetization platform capabilities.
  • Own the architecture and implementation of critical monetization data workflows, data contracts, and integrations across product and business systems.
  • Establish guarantees for correctness, availability, security, performance, reconciliation, and auditability across business-critical systems.
  • Build reusable platform capabilities and developer tools that enable product teams to launch, measure, and iterate on monetization products safely.
  • Partner with Product, Design, Data, Finance, Accounting, and GTM teams to translate customer and business needs into robust technical solutions.
  • Lead the technical design and delivery of complex, cross-functional projects using system designs and RFCs to align partners before implementation.
  • Make tradeoffs among product velocity, scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Improve observability and operational excellence through monitoring, incident response, root-cause analysis, capacity planning, and long-term remediation.
  • Mentor engineers, participate in architecture and code reviews, write documentation, and share knowledge across teams.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Deep experience building and operating production software systems, backend services, or distributed systems at scale.
  • High proficiency in at least one general-purpose programming language, such as Go, Java, Python, Rust, or C++.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals.
  • Strong knowledge of API design, data modeling, storage systems, distributed systems, and event-driven architecture.
  • Experience designing systems with rigorous correctness, reliability, observability, security, privacy, or access-control requirements.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners, navigate ambiguity, and drive work from problem definition through delivery.
  • Product-oriented mindset and clear communication with technical and non-technical partners.
  • Strong engineering judgment and a design-before-implementation approach.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with monetization, pricing, billing, ads, payments, entitlements, subscriptions, or other financial products.
  • Familiarity with financial correctness, reconciliation, compliance, or audit requirements.
  • Experience with high-scale distributed systems, transactional workflows, event streaming, or payment infrastructure.
  • Experience building internal platforms, shared frameworks, APIs, or developer tooling for engineering teams.

Benefits

  • Equity, performance-related bonuses for eligible employees, and comprehensive benefits.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance, with employer contributions to Health Savings Accounts.
  • Pre-tax accounts for healthcare, dependent care, parking, and transit expenses.
  • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match.
  • Paid parental, medical, and caregiver leave.
  • Paid time off, company holidays, office closures, and paid sick or safe time as required by law.
  • Mental health and wellness support.
  • Employer-paid basic life and disability coverage.
  • Annual learning and development stipend.
  • Daily office meals and eligible meal delivery credits.
  • Relocation support for eligible employees.
  • Additional benefits may include charitable donation matching and wellness stipends.
