Details
Reddit's Storage Infra team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to solve large-scale storage infrastructure problems. The caching layer serves hundreds of millions of queries per second and stores hundreds of billions of keys across hundreds of terabytes of data and thousands of machines. In this role, you will work with the team and major users, including ML, AI, and Search, to build scalable technical solutions while maintaining high availability and reliability for Reddit's products.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the team's and organization's long-term technical strategy.
- Refine and maintain data storage infrastructure supporting products used by hundreds of millions of users.
- Own managed and self-hosted infrastructure supporting data writes, reads, and storage.
- Build and maintain tooling and automation to operate the infrastructure efficiently.
- Mentor engineers on designing, building, and promoting services used by hundreds of engineers across Reddit.
- Collaborate with engineering, data science, machine learning, and product stakeholders.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience building internet-scale software, preferably with a focus on machine learning storage infrastructure.
- Software development experience in one or more general-purpose programming languages, including Golang, Python, C++, or Java.
- Hands-on experience implementing features, optimizations, and bug fixes for distributed storage systems.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent technical field.
- Experience with storage technologies such as Postgres, MySQL, Cassandra, Redis, or Memcache is a significant plus.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range: $217,000–$303,900 USD per year.
- Eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units.
- Depending on the position offered, may be eligible to receive a commission.
