Details
Airbnb's Dev AI team builds foundational AI tooling and infrastructure that powers developer productivity across the software development lifecycle. The team operates as both a platform team and an internal AI consultancy, providing building blocks for domain-specific, AI-powered solutions.
The role focuses on shaping and executing the technical direction of infrastructure and products across agentic coding tools, asynchronous AI workflow platforms, SDKs for internal AI application development, and AI-assisted code migration.
Responsibilities
- Help shape and drive the AI for Developers strategy from ideation through shipping, while taking ownership and coding across various technology stacks.
- Make pragmatic architectural and technical decisions that balance ambition with real-world constraints and long-term operability.
- Stay current with the rapidly evolving AI tooling landscape and balance innovation with incremental, measurable developer impact.
- Serve as a champion, expert, coach, and consultant to empower teams and leaders across the company to adopt new AI capabilities in their daily workflows.
- Champion engineering excellence through high-quality code, thoughtful design, and reliable systems.
- Participate in on-call rotations and drive operational excellence for the team's platform components.
Requirements
- 7+ years of industry experience or equivalent depth of expertise.
- Prior experience building developer infrastructure, tooling, or platforms, ideally at scale and with commonly used industry tools, frameworks, or systems.
- Hands-on experience applying AI technologies to real-world software development challenges.
- A track record of quickly ramping up in new domains, technologies, or programming languages, with genuine enthusiasm for continuous learning.
- Demonstrated success partnering cross-functionally, with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in one or more of Go, Python, TypeScript, or Kotlin.
- Bachelor's and/or master's degree or equivalent experience.
Location
This position is US remote eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation
The base pay range is $196,000–$230,000 USD per year. Actual base pay depends on factors including training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs, and market demands.
