Details

Airbnb is seeking a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer to develop advanced machine learning solutions that improve Guest and Host experiences, with a core focus on Messaging and Notifications.

Responsibilities

Architect and implement advanced machine learning solutions, including recommendation engines, ranking systems, intent detection models, and intelligence integrated into existing platforms.
Lead efforts to use Large Language Models (LLMs) to create transformative AI experiences.
Shape early-stage initiatives from concept through production and turn new ideas into impactful products.
Lead Machine Learning, Data, and Product engineers in developing ML applications.
Envision, champion, and support novel ML systems, product integrations, and performance optimizations for real-world problems.
Lead, mentor, challenge, and develop software engineers and applied scientists across the organization.
Raise the organization’s AI and ML capabilities through teaching and mentoring.

Requirements

12+ years of software engineering experience.
2+ years of experience in a Principal or Senior Staff Engineer role with ownership responsibility for large-scale software systems.
Experience designing and developing scalable AI and machine learning systems and services.
Deep interest in building ML-powered products.
Experience coaching and mentoring engineers and fostering engineering maturity across multiple organizations.
Strong builder and implementation mindset, with a proactive, curious, and highly communicative approach.

Location

This position is remote eligible in the United States. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity; certain states are excluded.
