Details
Cross-Asset Trading System (CATS) is a flexible trading blotter that allows Bloomberg teams to configure, customize, and run trading applications. The team is replacing legacy systems and building new infrastructure with modern technologies to create scalable, reliable, high-volume platforms.
As a senior software engineer on the full-stack platform team, you will help advance TypeScript-based trading technology, integrate trading systems, and create new workflows for the trading experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead critical projects and design features that shape the future of trading technology.
- Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams across Bloomberg to onboard applications onto the platform and improve understanding of the trading ecosystem.
- Drive the incorporation of emerging technologies to deliver next-generation trading functionality and improve development practices.
- Develop and deploy backend services for storing user application configurations.
- Develop client-side services that improve data subscription pipelines and support multiple instruments more efficiently.
- Expand platform APIs and plugins to make the platform more customizable.
- Reimagine and simplify customer workflows while solving complex problems and understanding the scope and impact of your work.
- Experiment with new technologies and practices as part of a learning-oriented engineering culture.
- Mentor other engineers and encourage knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- 4+ years of professional experience programming in TypeScript or JavaScript.
- Desire to learn about different trading ecosystems.
- Good communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Desire to deepen knowledge and understanding of JavaScript and TypeScript.
- Strong software engineering mindset with an appreciation for software development lifecycle best practices.
- Ability and willingness to learn, understand, and scale existing systems and share knowledge.
- Open-mindedness toward new technologies and practices.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience developing trading applications.
- Familiarity with React, Redux, or similar state management frameworks.
- Experience developing generic platforms, APIs, or plugins.
- Experience leading projects with multiple stakeholders and evolving requirements.
- Experience mentoring junior engineers and contributing to a collaborative team culture.
Benefits
