Senior Frontend Software Engineer, Home Experience

Reddit's Feeds Experience team is responsible for high-traffic Feed pages across Reddit's apps and website. This role focuses on building smooth, intuitive, and engaging feed experiences at the scale of hundreds of millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to build products and features for Reddit users.
• Contribute to engineering standards, developer workflow improvements, and best practices.
• Mentor engineers and help grow their technical expertise.
• Own the full development cycle for major projects, including design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
• Write and review code and design documents, provide feedback on product specifications and mocks, and ensure successful project delivery.
• Drive the planning, development, and implementation of critical projects across Reddit's web architecture.
• Work with backend and other client engineers.
• Promote metrics-led execution, operational excellence, and system observability.
• Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to develop product and engineering roadmaps.

Requirements

• 6+ years of software development experience in one or more frontend-focused programming languages, including JavaScript, TypeScript, or ES6.
• Experience with one or more frontend web frameworks, such as Lit, Polymer, React, Vue, or Angular, including CSS experience.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to break down and prioritize tasks for yourself and others while keeping projects on schedule.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Strong focus on user experience and usability, with an ability to understand how people interact with software. Experience with social products is a plus.
• Entrepreneurial spirit, self-direction, innovation, and a bias toward action in fast-paced and ambiguous environments.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively in a fully remote environment with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Experience with GraphQL, REST, HTTP, and Thrift basics, as well as the ability to design and implement maintainable APIs, is a plus.
• Understanding of large-scale web applications, including techniques for accommodating high requests per second and complex pages, is a major plus.

The base salary range for this position is $190,800–$267,100 USD. The position may span more than one career level and may be eligible for commission depending on the position offered.
