Details

Grafana Labs is hiring a Software Engineer for its Platform Productivity squad. The role is remote and open to applicants living in UK time zones. The squad develops and operates internal engineering platforms that help teams securely and measurably release software onto Grafana Labs' infrastructure.

Grafana Cloud processes millions of metrics, log lines, and traces per second through a highly available, low-latency observability platform. The Platform department provides application engineers with the tools, systems, and Kubernetes clusters required to build, deploy, and operate their workloads.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain the Internal Engineering Platform (IEP).
Manage and develop CI/CD platforms.
Build release and deployment automation.
Develop application configuration management tooling.
Automate software updates.
Manage artefacts and artefact management systems.
Work with internal application development, security, and other teams to implement their requirements.
Design, compare, and select solutions for platform productivity challenges.
Develop next-generation CI/CD systems.
Build and manage secure automation runner infrastructure.
Develop security automation as part of CI/CD systems.
Develop AI-backed tooling to support internal users.
Participate in an on-call rotation supporting Platform tooling and production services.
Own the full lifecycle of software, including design documentation, development, feedback, testing, deployment, operation, and decommissioning.

Requirements

Engineering or software development experience within a Platform group delivering services to internal engineering teams.
Experience working in a cloud environment.
Experience with Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or Crossplane.
Familiarity with Kubernetes administration; experience with Grafana Tanka is advantageous.
Experience with or interest in implementing, integrating, and maintaining observability systems and processes.
Experience operating software in production.
Familiarity with Kubernetes and Docker.
Ability to work collaboratively in a remote-first, consensus-oriented environment.
Flexibility to use appropriate tools and technologies. Go is the primary language, with shell scripting and other tools used where appropriate.

The role involves working with internal engineers and management structures, contributing to roadmap decisions, improving existing systems, and gracefully retiring systems that are no longer needed. Grafana Labs supports the use of AI coding assistants within security guidelines and provides access to models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google.
