Details

Grafana Labs is seeking a Staff Product Manager for OpenTelemetry Experience. This fully remote role is open to candidates in Sweden and focuses on making Grafana Cloud the easiest and most trusted destination for OpenTelemetry workloads.

Responsibilities

  • Define the vision, strategy, and cross-product roadmap for the journey from an uninstrumented workload to healthy, useful telemetry in Grafana Cloud.
  • Own the end-to-end OpenTelemetry experience, including SDK onboarding and configuration, automatic instrumentation, OBI/Beyla, SDK injection, and client-side OpenTelemetry Collector deployment.
  • Improve collector configuration, authentication, initial connectivity, troubleshooting, and validation workflows.
  • Help users and coding agents choose the right instrumentation approach, implement and configure instrumentation, and verify that telemetry is healthy, correctly attributed, and actionable.
  • Identify and eliminate setup failures, abandonment, misconfiguration, and low-quality telemetry.
  • Establish shared experience principles, priorities, and success criteria across product and engineering teams.
  • Use customer research, product data, and market insight to prioritize investments and measure onboarding completion, time to useful telemetry, telemetry health, and workload expansion.
  • Partner with Application Observability, Kubernetes Monitoring, Infrastructure Observability, and Drilldown Apps teams to connect telemetry ingestion with meaningful Grafana Cloud product activation.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Design, Documentation, Developer Relations, Product Marketing, and go-to-market teams.
  • Help define product positioning, launches, technical content, adoption programs, and campaigns.
  • Represent Grafana Labs and its customers in relevant OpenTelemetry ecosystem discussions.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate customer-research synthesis, analyze product signals, explore technical workflows, prototype experiences, develop positioning content, and test agent-led instrumentation journeys.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of Product Management experience in developer tools, observability, infrastructure, data platforms, or another technically complex B2B product domain.
  • Experience leading strategy and execution across multiple engineering teams or product areas without direct organizational authority.
  • Strong working knowledge of OpenTelemetry, including SDK instrumentation, OTLP, Collector pipelines, telemetry context, and semantic conventions.
  • Experience using or building instrumentation systems, agents, telemetry collectors, configuration products, or related infrastructure.
  • Understanding of deploying and operating software across Kubernetes, virtual machines, and public cloud environments.
  • Experience turning complex onboarding, configuration, and troubleshooting workflows into clear product experiences.
  • Track record of using customer research and product data to make decisions, align stakeholders, and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills for influencing technical and nontechnical stakeholders in a remote, globally distributed organization.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Experience contributing to or building products around OpenTelemetry or the broader open-source observability ecosystem.
  • Experience with automatic instrumentation, eBPF, or runtime-based instrumentation.
  • Firsthand experience as an SRE, platform engineer, developer, or observability practitioner.
  • Experience building product-led onboarding, configuration-validation, or telemetry-health experiences at scale.

Compensation

The base compensation range in Sweden is SEK 996,819–SEK 1,196,182 per year. Actual compensation may vary based on level, experience, and skillset. The role also includes Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

Benefits

  • 100% remote global culture.
  • Career growth pathways.
  • In-person onboarding.
  • Global annual leave policy of 30 days per year, including 3 Grafana Shutdown Days, subject to local legislation.
  • Equal opportunity employment.
