Details

Airbnb's Secure Development Engineering team builds the platform that checks Airbnb's code as engineers write it. The tooling runs in continuous integration on every pull request in the company's largest repositories. The role focuses on building reliable systems, improving latency and developer experience, and operating a platform used by thousands of engineers.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate backend services that run code checks inside continuous integration, owning their reliability and latency.
  • Scale the platform to support new repositories, languages, and check types while keeping integrations simple for adopting teams.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines for storing results, along with dashboards reporting coverage, volume, and time to fix.
  • Design clear APIs and integration points for other engineering teams.
  • Improve developer experience by reducing noise, writing useful messages, and shortening feedback loops.
  • Write tests, add instrumentation, and operate the systems you build.
  • Support AI-assisted code review by building evaluation datasets and pipelines that measure output quality.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of software engineering experience.
  • Production software development experience in at least one of Java, Kotlin, Python, Go, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
  • Experience building and operating backend services or platforms used by other engineers.
  • Experience with developer infrastructure such as continuous integration, build systems, or monorepos.
  • Ability to write SQL, build data pipelines, and present results on dashboards.
  • Good testing and debugging practices, with a data-driven approach to optimization.
  • Clear written communication across teams.

Preferred Experience

  • Development of security tooling, static analysis, or dependency scanning.
  • Knowledge of web or mobile application security.
  • AWS configuration concepts.
  • Measuring output quality from large language models.

Location

This position is US remote eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.

Compensation

The base pay range is $162,000–$186,000 USD per year. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
