Details

Community Support Engineering builds the technology, architecture, and solutions that power Airbnb’s global community support operations. The Agent Core Products team develops software that empowers support agents and improves the quality and efficiency of service provided to Airbnb guests and hosts.

The Senior Software Engineer will work with a diverse team to shape technical vision and deliver flexible, efficient, and scalable solutions. The role focuses on building products and features that improve the agent experience, including AI-driven capabilities.

Responsibilities

Work cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering teams to execute product and business strategy.
Drive and contribute to the full development cycle, including technical design, development, test automation, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
Review code and design documents and provide feedback on product specifications and mockups.
Build efficient, reusable, high-quality frontend web components while maintaining performance and scalability.
Design and implement server-side APIs to support frontend requirements, applying sound architectural judgment regarding the separation of client and server logic.
Collaborate with Machine Learning and Generative AI Engineers to improve Community Support systems.
Provide input on technical direction through engineering design discussions.
Mentor junior developers.

Requirements

6+ years of industry experience.
Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
Experience architecting frontend systems, with proven ownership of end-to-end features and cross-team integrations.
Experience building large web applications using JavaScript and TypeScript.
Experience with modern JavaScript and TypeScript libraries and tooling, such as React and GraphQL.
Fluency in HTML, CSS, and related web technologies.
Demonstrated excellence in accessibility, performance optimization, and paved-path client practices.
Ability to influence beyond the immediate team.
Product mindset and strong communication skills, with the ability to drive cross-organizational integration with partner teams.
Experience building user interfaces for AI-driven features, including classical supervised machine learning and Generative AI.
Proficiency in one or more backend server languages, such as Java or Kotlin.

Compensation

Base pay range: $195,000–$220,000 USD per year.
The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

Location

US remote eligible.
The employee must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity.
Occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites may be required, as agreed with the manager.
