Reddit's Brand Ad Formats team develops high-visibility, awareness-driven advertising solutions that help advertisers maximize reach and brand impact. The team is building fully customizable interactive formats and AI-driven ads incorporating user-generated content, with a focus on expanding Reddit's video advertising capabilities.

As a Staff Android Engineer, you will lead the technical strategy for developing Reddit's Video Ads offering and provide technical guidance on new Reddit-specific ad formats for Android. You will help ensure that these experiences are high-performance, high-quality, and scalable to millions of users.

Responsibilities

• Partner with Product and Design to build a roadmap for transforming Reddit's Video Ads format into an industry-leading offering.
• Drive the technical design and execution of projects supporting the Video Ads roadmap.
• Provide technical guidance for video ads and Reddit-specific ad formats by establishing Android best practices and conducting design reviews.
• Lead the full development lifecycle, from discovery and prototyping through testing, data-driven experimentation, and deployment.
• Mentor senior engineers across teams and establish best practices for design, testing, and operational excellence.
• Advocate for customers and lead by example as a technical leader.

Requirements

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of deep Android development experience.
• Deep expertise in Kotlin and modern Android architectural patterns.
• Completed at least four Android development projects from ideation through production deployment.
• Prior experience in ad tech and building highly interactive or rich-media mobile experiences.
• A proven track record of delivering user-facing features where UI polish and performance are critical.
• Ability to design fault-tolerant, client-side systems in complex, data-intensive environments.
• Experience leveraging generative AI tools to improve software engineering productivity.
• Fluency with product metrics and designing and analyzing experiments, with exposure to tools such as BigQuery, HEX, and Firebase.
• Openness to working across the stack and exploring innovative approaches, including AI/ML integration.
• Self-directed, innovative, action-oriented approach and the ability to thrive in ambiguity.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills in a fully remote environment, including the ability to discuss complex topics with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Strong technical leadership and mentoring experience.
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks and keep projects on schedule.
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a similar technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
