Details
As a Technical Deployment Lead on the Forward Deployed Engineering team, you will lead the delivery of custom AI agent solutions for enterprise customers in regulated industries. You will own high-value engagements from statement of work through production deployment, working alongside Forward Deployed Engineers who build the technical solution. Your responsibilities will include product scoping, stakeholder management, value measurement, and managing the organizational complexity of deploying AI agents in enterprise environments.
You will also help build playbooks, define scalable processes and repeatable delivery patterns, champion Anthropic's mission in the field, ensure world-class delivery, and bring insights back to Product and Research teams.
Responsibilities
- Own the technical delivery plan for each engagement, including SOWs with clear scope, milestones, dependencies, success criteria, and value hypotheses.
- Translate customer business objectives into sequenced roadmaps for Forward Deployed Engineers.
- Lead discovery by mapping customer workflows, identifying constraints, defining MVP scope, and shaping solution architecture for custom agent deployments.
- Run day-to-day engineering execution across Anthropic and customer teams, keeping delivery unblocked and making scope and priority trade-offs.
- Own product scoping for field engagements, define the MVP, author requirements documentation, prioritize the engineering backlog, and manage evolving requirements.
- Lead customer relationships throughout delivery, including executive briefings and stakeholder communications with technical leads, procurement, and senior business and engineering leaders.
- Define impact hypotheses, baselines, and KPIs; conduct pre- and post-deployment measurement; and report outcomes to executive sponsors.
- Build reusable solution patterns, evaluation frameworks, and delivery playbooks.
- Feed field insights back to Product and Research to improve Anthropic's platform and models.
- Navigate security reviews, legal approvals, procurement processes, compliance requirements, and organizational dynamics.
- Manage scope and change, negotiate contract modifications, identify risks, and escalate issues with clear context.
- Run delivery operations, including sprint ceremonies, milestone reviews, and progress reporting.
- Travel to customer sites to build relationships, unblock delivery, and accelerate adoption. Travel of up to 25–50% is expected.
Requirements
- Experience leading AI/ML engagements or deployments as a founder, data scientist, engineer, researcher, or in a professional services or consulting role.
- Experience delivering AI, ML, or LLM-based agentic solutions into production, including understanding solution patterns, integration approaches, and real-world deployment challenges.
- Experience in a specialized vertical such as life sciences, pharmaceuticals, retail, mining, or agriculture.
- Ability to navigate architecture discussions with engineering stakeholders, evaluate technical trade-offs, and pressure-test technical decisions. The role does not require writing production code, but does require owning technical direction alongside Forward Deployed Engineers.
- Track record delivering complex, high-stakes technical projects for enterprise clients, ideally across multiple workstreams in regulated industries.
- Executive presence and the ability to represent Anthropic credibly to senior leaders in high-stakes environments.
- Ability to thrive in ambiguity and create structure where none exists.
- Builder's mindset and willingness to create a new function.
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- A field of study relevant to the role, as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.
Benefits
Anthropic offers competitive compensation and benefits, optional equity donation matching, generous vacation and parental leave, flexible working hours, and office spaces for collaboration. Anthropic sponsors visas and makes reasonable efforts to support visa applications, with assistance from an immigration lawyer. Staff are currently expected to work from one of the company's offices at least 25% of the time, although some roles may require more office attendance.
