Customer.io powers automated communication that people actually want to receive and helps teams send smarter, more relevant messages using real-time behavioral data.
Role overview
This role sits at the intersection of marketing, revenue operations, and engineering. You'll be responsible for connecting tools, automating processes, and making data accessible across the organization. The work focuses on APIs, webhooks, data flows, automation logic, and integrations that make a modern GTM stack function. You will partner closely with Growth, Marketing, RevOps, Sales, and Customer Success to operationalize campaigns, improve data quality, and automate repeatable processes.
Responsibilities
- Build and own GTM integrations using APIs, webhooks, native integrations, automation platforms, and lightweight scripts.
- Create reliable automation workflows in tools such as Customer.io, Salesforce Flow, n8n, Zapier, Make, Airtable, incorporating branching logic, payload transformations, retries, error handling, alerts, and documentation.
- Debug data and workflow failures: investigate broken syncs, missing fields, malformed payloads, API errors, rate limits, attribution gaps, and automation edge cases.
- Read logs, test endpoints, and trace data across systems to find and fix issues.
- Support GTM systems architecture by defining how tools should connect, where data should live, and how fields should map across marketing, sales, success, and RevOps.
- Improve data quality and accessibility: build processes for data hygiene, enrichment, segmentation, attribution, reporting, and operational visibility.
- Write lightweight operational scripts (Python, JavaScript, SQL, or similar) to automate recurring tasks, process CSVs, call APIs, restructure data, and solve custom problems.
- Collaborate with Growth, Marketing, Sales, Customer Success, Product, and RevOps to translate business needs into reliable technical solutions.
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years in Marketing Operations, Revenue Operations, Sales Operations, CX Operations, Solutions Engineering, or a similarly technical GTM systems role (ideally at a B2B SaaS company).
- Strong hands-on experience with APIs, webhooks, automation platforms, CRMs, marketing automation tools, and data systems.
- Comfort reading API documentation, testing requests, inspecting payloads, troubleshooting errors, and tracing data between systems.
- Experience building automations in Customer.io, Salesforce Flow, n8n, Zapier, Make, Airtable, or similar platforms.
- Ability to write or modify lightweight scripts for operational tasks (batch updates, CSV transformations, API calls, enrichment jobs).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose ambiguous systems issues across multiple tools.
- Excellent documentation habits and the ability to explain technical systems clearly to non-technical stakeholders.
- AI proficiency: regular use of AI to support technical work (debugging code, refining workflows, surfacing solutions via prompts) and an understanding of appropriate use cases for AI vs. traditional code-based approaches.
- Comfortable working close to code, APIs, databases, and technical documentation; you do not need to be a full-time software engineer but should be technically fluent.
