Details

The AI Deployment Engineering team is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective deployment of generative AI applications. The team acts as a trusted advisor and thought partner for customers, building an effective backlog of GenAI use cases and driving them to production through strong technical guidance.

As an AI Deployment Engineer on the OpenAI for Government team, you will help federal, state, and local government agencies transform their organizations through solutions such as automated content generation, contextual search, and applications using OpenAI's models and technology.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the technical lead and thought partner for sophisticated public sector customers, helping them ideate and build applications using the OpenAI API and other OpenAI products.
  • Work with senior customer stakeholders to identify high-value AI applications and build and qualify comprehensive backlogs supporting their AI roadmaps.
  • Build hands-on prototypes and provide strategic guidance to accelerate customer time to value, often in collaboration with systems integrators and implementation partners.
  • Establish and manage relationships with customer and implementation partner leadership and stakeholders to ensure successful application deployment and scaling.
  • Contribute to open-source developer and enterprise resources.
  • Scale the AI Deployment Engineering function by sharing knowledge, codifying best practices, and publishing notebooks to internal and external repositories.
  • Validate, synthesize, and deliver high-signal feedback to Product, Engineering, and Research teams.
  • Collaborate closely with Sales, Solutions Engineering, Global Affairs, Applied Research, and Product teams.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of technical consulting or equivalent experience with public sector customers; U.S. federal civilian experience is preferred.
  • Experience bridging technical teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Experience leading GenAI or traditional machine learning implementations for government agencies in close collaboration with systems integrators and implementation partners.
  • Effective and polished communication skills, with the ability to translate business and technical topics for varied audiences.
  • Industry experience with programming languages such as Python or JavaScript.
  • Ability to own problems end-to-end and acquire the knowledge needed to complete the work.
  • Humble attitude, eagerness to help colleagues, and commitment to team success.
  • Ability to drive multiple concurrent projects and prioritize effectively.
