As a Backend Engineer on the Profile & Community team within Airbnb’s Passport & Commerce organization, you will help build the social layer of Airbnb, including a trusted social graph of real-world connections, social features, and foundations that enable people to connect with travelers and people they meet. The team collaborates with design, product, data science, legal, and marketing partners to deliver features and experiences used by millions of people. Engineering teams work together to build performant, configurable, scalable, and robust systems.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering teams across the stack and partners in Knowledge Graph, Search, Listings, Trips, and other areas to build scalable, high-quality platforms and foundations.
• Work with cross-functional partners to define and execute products and features that help guests and hosts set up their accounts and profiles quickly and easily.
• Build efficient and reusable backend components.
• Architect reliable, performant, and scalable systems.
• Evaluate and prototype new technologies and techniques to enable faster iteration and execution across the technology stack.
• Mentor and support other engineers on the team and in related teams.
• Evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems.
• Drive alignment, manage projects, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.

Requirements

• 3+ years of industry experience.
• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree, preferably in Computer Science, or equivalent experience.
• Experience building and scaling high-quality, high-traffic products or systems.
• Ability to evaluate technical approaches and design product solutions to solve real-world problems.
• Ability to drive alignment, manage projects, and collaborate effectively with stakeholders.

Location

This position is US remote eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed with the manager. Candidates must live in a state where Airbnb, Inc. has a registered entity. If the position is employed by another Airbnb entity, the recruiter will provide information about eligible states.

Compensation

The base pay range is $162,000–$186,000 USD. The role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.
