Front-End IT Engineer (Android)

We're looking for a Front-End IT Engineer (Android) within the Innovation department who operates at the forefront of technological developments in the banking industry. You will work in multidisciplinary teams to design, develop and test innovative propositions and processes, and translate them into scalable, secure and compliant production systems. The role focuses on front-end development while also contributing to generic and back-end work when required.

The Innovation Department has three focus domains: Digital Assets, AI and Embedded Banking. You will support all three domains and play a vital role in launching innovative solutions. There are two vacancies, one for the iOS ecosystem and one for Android.

Responsibilities

• Develop mobile applications for Android and act as the domain expert for the broader team.
• Contribute to web front-end and back-end development when needed.
• Take ownership of complex front-end components and features.
• Contribute to generic development work and architectural decisions.
• Maintain high standards for performance, accessibility, security and code quality.
• Participate throughout the full development lifecycle, from refinement and design to delivery and production support.
• Collaborate with backend engineers, product owners and UX designers to translate designs into functional components and ensure high-quality user experiences.
• Work with teams responsible for maintaining application APIs.
• Improve development standards, testing strategies and tooling.
• Support and mentor less experienced developers, particularly on front-end topics.
• Collaborate with product experts, innovation teams, client units, challenger banks, Legal, Information Security, Compliance, Risk and platform engineering teams.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• At least five years of experience and thorough knowledge of Kotlin and Android development.
• A clear vision of the future of mobile development.
• Experience developing Capacitor plugins.
• SDK development experience.
• Experience working with API specifications and API-first development.
• Familiarity with CI/CD, Git and Azure DevOps.
• Experience with web development using Vue.js and TypeScript, or willingness to learn.
• Experience with Java Spring Boot backend API development, or willingness to learn.
• In-depth expertise in architectural principles, testing methodologies, security risks, continuous delivery and cloud infrastructure.
• A proactive approach to improving code quality, reliability and engineering practices.
• Clear communication skills, a structured approach to complex problems and an interest in the broader banking industry.

You will work as part of a self-organizing, multidisciplinary Agile team that balances fast experimentation with the reliability required for secure, production-ready financial capabilities.
