Details

Reddit is seeking a full-stack software engineer to join the Notifications team and design, build, and scale products within its notifications system, with a focus on the end-user experience. The role involves working across the stack and collaborating with Product, Machine Learning, Data Science, design, and engineering teams. The work will impact hundreds of millions of users worldwide.

Reddit has a flexible workforce. Employees who live near a physical office may work from the office as often as they choose. Remote work is available in countries where Reddit has a physical presence.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain backend services that handle notifications and emails, ensuring system performance, security, and scalability.
Design, develop, and maintain high-quality, performant frontend features.
Contribute to the full development cycle, including technical design, development, testing, experimentation, analysis, and launch.
Write design documents and production code and incorporate feedback.
Collaborate with product managers, designers, data scientists, and other engineers to deliver high-quality products.
Contribute to the infrastructure supporting these systems.

Requirements

3+ years of software engineering experience.
Experience building user-facing features from design through completion.
Full-stack web development experience, with balanced experience across modern web technologies and backend service code.
Experience with modern frontend technologies; Reddit primarily uses TypeScript on the frontend.
Experience with backend technologies such as GraphQL, Go, or Python.
Familiarity with unit testing and other automated testing practices.
Ability to write resilient and fault-tolerant code.
Operational experience supporting live websites.
Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively with a team.
Written and verbal communication, project leadership, engineering culture improvement, or cross-functional collaboration experience is beneficial.

Compensation

The base salary range is $164,000–$229,000 USD per year. The position is also eligible for equity in the form of restricted stock units and may be eligible for a commission depending on the position offered.
