Details

As a Payments Risk Analyst I on the Payments Risk team, you will serve as the first line of defense against payments fraud. The team reviews escalated accounts, identifies fraud patterns, and strengthens controls that protect customers from chargebacks, ACH abuse, wire disputes, and account takeovers. You will own end-to-end fraud investigations, surface insights that improve detection logic, and drive process improvements that reduce risk exposure at scale.

Responsibilities

Investigate escalated customer accounts to identify and mitigate payments fraud risks, including chargebacks, ACH returns, wire disputes, and account takeovers.
Analyze fraud trends and payment activity patterns, delivering actionable insights to Payments Risk leadership to improve detection accuracy.
Partner with the Payments Risk investigations team to provide feedback on rule performance and risk logic, strengthening automated defenses.
Identify workflow inefficiencies and recommend process improvements that reduce risk exposure and increase operational throughput.
Support the development and documentation of review processes as transaction volumes grow.

Requirements

At least 1 year of experience in payments risk, fraud analysis, or risk operations within financial services, fintech, or e-commerce, with demonstrated ownership of fraud case investigations.
Hands-on experience with payment systems, including ACH, wire transfers, and card networks.
Knowledge of fraud detection methodologies, chargeback management, and dispute resolution workflows.
Strong investigative ability to identify fraud patterns, root causes, and systemic vulnerabilities from account-level data.
Familiarity with blockchain analytics tools or cryptocurrency fraud trends, or the ability to ramp quickly in technical domains.
Ability to use generative AI responsibly while maintaining human oversight and delivering business-ready outputs.
