Details

GitLab is seeking a Principal Program Manager, Go-To-Market, to lead two pillars of go-to-market execution for Product & Technical Marketing (PTM): high-stakes minor and major launches, and cross-functional program management across Product Management, Product Design, Growth Marketing, Comms and Social, and Field Enablement.

The role will redesign GitLab's launch operating model with AI agents, build scalable program frameworks, and create clarity across complex initiatives. The successful candidate will turn manual coordination into production AI workflows, partner with Marketing's AI Transformation Owner on adoption and governance, and measure success through customer and business outcomes such as pipeline, adoption, consumption, brand impact, and community impact.

Responsibilities

  • Run a concurrent portfolio of PTM-dependent initiatives with clear owners, dates, risks, options, and tradeoffs.
  • Orchestrate 15+ minor and major launches annually, including platform releases, company-event launches, weekly signal announcements, and launches involving agentic products.
  • Sequence product decisions into PTM and other go-to-market functions with clear handoffs.
  • Align Product Management, Product Design, PTM, Growth Marketing, Comms and Social, Field Enablement, Sales, and other go-to-market teams.
  • Provide leadership with context and recommendations to support timely decisions.
  • Codify launch and program frameworks so each cycle improves on the last.
  • Ensure quality throughout the work and confirm that market-facing materials land as intended.
  • Build AI workflows that draft briefs, synthesize status, automate coordination, and reduce manual program steps.
  • Partner with Marketing's AI Transformation Owner when workflows require department-wide adoption, skills, or guardrails.
  • Escalate early with a clear request when decisions exceed the working team's authority.
  • Protect focus through smaller core teams, fewer standing meetings, and more working sessions.
  • Run retrospectives, remove unnecessary process, and use data to improve subsequent cycles.

Requirements

  • Go-to-market program management experience in the high-tech industry.
  • First-hand experience leading complex, multi-stakeholder, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience building and scaling program operations in large, distributed organizations, with demonstrated results.
  • Hands-on experience with AI agents and automations used by real teams in production.
  • A track record of converting manual work into AI workflows and supporting adoption.
  • Experience establishing launch and program frameworks without creating unnecessary busywork.
  • Strong understanding of product releases and their impact on go-to-market teams.
  • Bias toward action, including defining risks and clear options for moving forward.
  • Experience measuring success through pipeline, adoption, or consumption rather than activity volume.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-stakes workstreams while maintaining quality and trust.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with executives.
  • Ability to influence senior stakeholders without direct authority.
  • Fluency with project tools and AI automation, along with the ability to use GitLab.
  • Ability to travel as needed and comply with GitLab's travel policy.
