Anthropic is seeking an Enforcement Analyst focused on chemical and explosives harms to help protect against the misuse of AI systems. The role combines chemical and explosives threat analysis with platform enforcement, including reviewing model interactions, investigating potential violations, making decisions under ambiguity, and strengthening safeguards. The position involves exposure to explicit, violent, sexual, or psychologically disturbing content and includes a shared on-call responsibility across the Policy and Enforcement teams.

Responsibilities

  • Enforce Usage Policies, focusing on chemical and explosives risks and harmful use of AI systems.
  • Own and improve enforcement monitoring workflows, including detection, investigation, triage, and escalation.
  • Monitor and analyze platform activity to identify emerging chemical and explosives threats within the broader CBRNE landscape.
  • Design and architect automated enforcement systems and scalable review workflows while maintaining high accuracy.
  • Investigate potential violations and gather and document evidence supporting enforcement decisions.
  • Identify trends and proactively improve detection methods and review workflows.
  • Partner with Engineering and Data Science teams to optimize detection models and automated enforcement systems.
  • Work with Policy and Threat Intelligence teams to understand potential exploits and contribute to risk-assessment frameworks.
  • Provide enforcement-based feedback on policy gaps and handle escalations and time-sensitive policy violations.

Requirements

  • A degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials science, or a related field, or relevant professional experience.
  • Experience in Trust & Safety, content moderation, or policy enforcement at platform scale.
  • Experience working with generative AI tools to refine and optimize content review and enforcement workflows.
  • Experience using AI tools to develop data dashboards for metrics collection and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to analyze complex and ambiguous situations and make well-reasoned, defensible decisions under time pressure.
  • Proactive and self-directed approach, including identifying trends and implementing improvements independently.
  • Clear written communication skills and the ability to explain technical chemistry concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Subject matter expertise in chemical and explosives defense, security, WMD/CBRNE non-proliferation, or threat intelligence.
  • Understanding of chemical and explosives risks, adversary intent, acquisition and weaponization pathways, dual-use concerns, cross-platform threat analysis, and relevant OSINT techniques.
  • Proficiency in SQL and/or other data analysis tools for analyzing large datasets and monitoring enforcement workflow health.
  • Familiarity with the Chemical Weapons Convention, scheduled chemicals, precursor controls, and energetic-materials safety frameworks.

Education And Experience

  • Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.
  • Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.
  • Required years of experience correlate with the internal job level requirements.
