Details

The Federal Customer Engineer serves as the technical advisor for Collibra Public Sector customers and prospects. The role supports both new business and expansion opportunities, maintaining technical relationships throughout the customer journey. This position focuses on helping U.S. government agencies achieve data sovereignty and mission intelligence through Collibra's self-hosted and FedRAMP-authorized platforms.

The role partners with Federal Account Executives across Department of War, civilian, and intelligence community agencies, addressing procurement and technical requirements, regulatory compliance, secure AI adoption, and complex Federal environments.

Responsibilities

Presales

  • Lead technical discovery sessions, identify complex customer needs and environments, and recommend solutions.
  • Own technical evaluation efforts with support from specialists in Data Quality, Privacy, AI Governance, and the Collibra Platform.
  • Collaborate with Account Executives on sales proposals and opportunity qualification.
  • Expand Collibra solutions within existing customers.
  • Prepare and own functional and technical sections of RFPs and RFQs.

Demonstrations and Presentations

  • Deliver focused and customized product demonstrations, configuring workflows and creating sample assets as required.
  • Present technical roadmaps and solutions to business and technology stakeholders.
  • Lead multidisciplinary workshops, proofs of concept, and Proof of Value engagements.
  • Deliver demonstrations addressing Federal mandates, including OMB M-24-10 regarding AI Governance, CDO Council priorities, and Executive Orders on Data Sharing.
  • Lead technical Proof of Value engagements within agency environments.
  • Ensure successful deployment of Collibra Edge behind agency firewalls.
  • Lead product and technical sections of regular business reviews.

Relationship Management

  • Serve as the technical authority on Collibra's security posture, including FedRAMP Moderate, IL4/IL5 requirements, and SOC 2 compliance.
  • Act as a liaison between customers and internal teams on complex requirements and issues.
  • Coordinate cross-functional evaluation efforts and complex testing scenarios.
  • Engage with senior customer and prospect representatives and influence product-related decisions.
  • Build executive-level credibility and trusted relationships within government organizations.
  • Identify growth opportunities and serve as a subject-matter expert for relevant products, industries, and technical domains.

Adoption and Expansion

  • Architect customized and integrated solutions for agency use cases.
  • Collaborate with Solution Architects on solution design.
  • Support customers with value identification, ROI realization, adoption strategies, and use-case development.
  • Support account growth strategies with Account Executives and Account Managers.
  • Design and validate future-state technical architectures across complex ecosystems.
  • Architect solutions for on-premises, hybrid-cloud, and disconnected or classified Federal networks.
  • Help agencies build a Unified Data Language to support secure data sharing while maintaining access controls and data labeling.
  • Provide technical guidance and best practices to accelerate Collibra adoption.

Customer Support and Teaming

  • Address technical questions and mitigate risks related to security, scalability, integration, and implementation.
  • Identify adoption roadblocks and drive technical resolution.
  • Support onboarding and provide technical guidance to Customer Engineers and sales team members.
  • Maintain expert-level product knowledge and contribute to competitive strategies, thought leadership, enablement, and asset creation.
  • Provide feedback to product management and engineering to improve Collibra solutions.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in Sales Engineering or Technical Consulting, including experience supporting U.S. Federal Government customers.
  • At least 4 years of experience in the Data or SaaS space.
  • Proficiency in SQL.
  • Familiarity with Federal data stacks such as Snowflake Government Data Cloud, AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, and Palantir is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of NIST 800-53, FISMA, and the Federal Data Strategy.
  • Experience navigating the Federal procurement cycle and building relationships with Agency CDOs, CTOs, and Program Managers.
  • Experience with value-based selling, cost-benefit analysis, ROI analysis, process management, and project management.
  • Experience with leading PaaS providers, data lakes, databases, and integration platforms.
  • Familiarity with enterprise security solutions such as LDAP or Kerberos.
  • Experience with Data Quality, Data Pipelines, Data Orchestration, and/or Job Control tools.
  • Knowledge of at least two or three data management disciplines, including data governance, data stewardship, master data management, data cataloging, and business rules management.
  • Experience with Collibra or comparable technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to use AI tools such as Claude, Gemini, ChatGPT, or Copilot to solve business challenges and streamline workflows.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Active Secret or TS security clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship and residence on U.S. soil are required because the role supports U.S. government business.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, interpersonal, organizational, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to understand complex technical concepts and communicate with skilled and experienced audiences.
  • Experience collaborating in partner- and contractor-heavy environments.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base salary of $140,000-$175,000 per year.
  • Additional commission-based compensation.
