AI ComplianceDetails
NVIDIA is developing an AI-based full stack for autonomous transportation and the HALOs platform supporting it. The role focuses on functional safety for the underlying compute and communications platform, including synchronization and management of diverse hardware compute engines, platform error reporting and degradation, system state management, and fail-operational features.
The engineer will help develop the next generation of safe, AI-powered autonomous driving platforms and align safety architecture and requirements across NVIDIA and its customers, at the intersection of NVIDIA's application stack and OEM vehicle platforms.
Responsibilities
- Propose new methods and refine existing practices for analyzing and demonstrating hardware fault metric compliance for AI-based systems and their underlying compute hardware.
- Perform analysis using classical approaches, including fault trees, alongside model-based techniques to derive application- and system-level diagnostic measures on top of existing hardware measures.
- Develop automation to support the analysis of complex, multilayered systems.
- Analyze and interpret internal and external safety documentation to identify improvements that support increasingly challenging safety targets.
- Integrate system, software, and hardware safety analysis methodologies to demonstrate that the overall system meets hardware safety metrics.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- 12 or more years of experience in systems architecture or related fields.
- Experience working across company boundaries with development partners.
- Strong experience in safety analysis of embedded systems at both the hardware and software levels, with the ability to select an appropriate level of abstraction for the task.
Preferred Qualifications
- Proven competence in qualitative and quantitative safety analysis methods, such as Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and Failure Modes, Effects, and Diagnostic Analysis (FMEDA).
- Background in hardware system-on-chip or board-level architecture; automotive ECU architecture is especially valued.
- Demonstrable competence with tools and automation focused on safety analysis.
- Familiarity with ISO 26262, IEC 61508, and ISO/PAS 21448 safety standards.
- Experience evaluating fault metrics through the combination of built-in hardware measures and application coverage.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range: USD 224,000–356,500 per year, determined by location, experience, and pay for employees in similar positions.
- Eligible for equity and benefits.
- Applications accepted at least until July 12, 2026.
- This posting is for an existing vacancy.
- NVIDIA uses AI tools in its recruiting processes.
- NVIDIA is an equal opportunity employer committed to an inclusive work environment.
