The Financial Systems team provides technology expertise to the finance department and is responsible for SAP, HANA, and connected third-party systems at Booking.com. The team is building a finance application platform that simplifies business processes and provides the finance community with better financial insights.

The SAP environment runs on HANA, uses Simple Finance, and includes an S/4HANA financial transformation. As a Senior SAP FI Specialist, you will design solutions for new initiatives, optimize SAP functionality, configure and modify existing functionality, and transform current-state processes. You will use your SAP FICO and FICA expertise to design solutions that meet business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Own projects and the quality of changes from planning through communication, coordination, compliance, customization, go-live, and hypercare.
• Develop solution design documents, functional design documents, configuration rationales, test plans, and deployment activities.
• Partner with business owners and digital teams to identify improvement opportunities and recommend solution designs.
• Interact daily with functional specialists and developers across finance and IT departments.
• Provide scalable and innovative solutions and make timely decisions in a dynamic environment.
• Identify opportunities to improve project delivery and development methodologies.
• Train key users and provide key-user support.
• Analyze issues and changes and provide day-to-day incident resolution.
• Lead Explore workshops for global rollouts and apply knowledge of SAP RISE product offerings.
• Stabilize the FICA/BRIM environment and improve financial data quality and integration efficiency with legacy platforms.

Requirements

• Deep hands-on experience designing and setting up global SAP finance templates, including enterprise structure and global organization setup.
• Expert configuration experience with controlling areas, operating concerns, company codes, charts of accounts, ledgers, currencies, segments, fiscal year and posting period variants, cost center and profit center hierarchies, internal order types, account groups, charts of depreciation, depreciation areas, and asset classes.
• Direct hands-on experience with SAP RISE Private Cloud Edition, including leading Explore phase workshops to define enterprise standards and detailed knowledge of RISE product offerings.
• At least one full-cycle greenfield or brownfield implementation of SAP FICA or BRIM / Convergent Invoicing.
• Strong understanding of high-volume billing data flows from digital interfaces into the General Ledger.
• Deep expertise in General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Asset Accounting, Bank Communication Management, Intercompany Accounting, Controlling, and Profitability Analysis.
• Proficiency mapping business processes across SAP ECC and S/4HANA environments.
• Excellent knowledge of SAP FI integration with complex legacy systems and external digital interfaces.
• Solid understanding of data mapping across FI-GL, Business Partners, and payment gateways.
• Strong finance process knowledge and experience integrating with legacy systems.
• Fluent written and verbal English communication skills, including technical presentations to non-technical audiences and high-level stakeholder management.
• Analytical thinking, agility, strategic thinking, and the ability to manage multiple high-priority deliverables in a fast-paced environment.

Contract Details

• Project duration: 1 year, from August 4, 2026, to August 3, 2027.
• Working hours: 40 hours per week.
• Pay rate for independent contractors: EUR 10–38 per hour.
