Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. The role involves building and operating critical, large-scale systems that manage massive volumes of financial information and support Stripe's financial operations.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate critical, large-scale systems that manage massive volumes of financial information.
• Navigate a complex fintech environment with numerous compliance regulations, translating business needs into robust software requirements and scalable distributed systems.
• Lead cross-functional alignment and provide technical direction for multi-team projects.
• Build large-scale, petabyte-sized financial data platforms, solutions, and pipelines using Big Data technologies and distributed systems.
• Debug production issues across the stack, analyze complex datasets, and design large-scale data pipelines using modern Big Data technologies.
• Execute projects related to insights into Stripe's financial performance across multiple products.
• Work on systems critical to Stripe's future financial operations, with impact over billions of dollars in payment volume.
• Understand the design and architecture of modern payments and financial technology across countries.
• Use monitoring, incident handling, and production debugging experience to ensure data pipeline health and SLOs while reducing operational toil through automation.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Security, or a related field.
• At least five years of related software engineering experience.
• Five years of experience programming in Java, Scala, or Python.
• Five years of experience designing, building, and maintaining scalable distributed systems.
• Five years of experience debugging production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack.
• Five years of experience with testing tools and frameworks including JUnit, Mockito, and TestNG.
• Four years of experience developing complex SQL queries, analyzing datasets, and designing large-scale data pipelines.
• Four years of experience working in the fintech domain.
• Four years of experience leading cross-team projects and building alignment on multi-team technical direction.
• One year of experience working with Apache Spark or similar modern Big Data technologies.

Compensation

• Salary: $206,086.00–$285,600.00 per year.
• 40 hours per week.
• 50% telecommuting permitted.
• Multiple positions available.
