Details

Coinbase is a remote-first, but not remote-only company. Employees are expected to meet quarterly for in-person working sessions called “surges.”

As a Senior Software Engineer, Frontend on the Identity Horizontal team within the Platform group, you will own user-facing experiences for login, signup, OAuth, account security, and multi-factor authentication. The team builds and maintains frontend surfaces that establish the appropriate level of assurance for each identity, enabling products to ship faster while blocking attackers and satisfying regulators. You will lead end-to-end frontend delivery across authentication surfaces, drive the Native versus Webview architecture strategy, and mentor engineers as the team scales.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end frontend projects from design documentation through implementation, deployment, and monitoring for login, signup, OAuth, account security, and multi-user or multi-organization support.
  • Author and review technical design documents, breaking down ambiguous and complex initiatives into executable plans.
  • Drive Identity’s Native versus Webview architecture strategy for authentication surfaces, evaluating trade-offs across latency, reliability, and user experience.
  • Proactively identify and resolve technical debt and code quality issues across the team’s codebase.
  • Lead team rituals, including on-call rotations, code reviews, and incident response.
  • Mentor L04 engineers on frontend craft and ownership.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of production frontend engineering experience with React and TypeScript.
  • Experience independently leading end-to-end delivery of ambiguous, complex projects.
  • Experience authoring and driving technical design documents through cross-functional review and implementation on at least 2–3 major initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve systemic technical debt across a team’s codebase, with measurable improvements to reliability or developer velocity.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and leading team rituals, including on-call rotations, code review standards, and incident response.
  • Ability to use generative AI responsibly while maintaining human oversight and delivering business-ready outputs that improve workflow efficiency, cost, and quality.

Compensation

The annual base salary range, excluding equity and bonus, is $186,065–$218,900 USD. Total compensation may also include equity, bonus eligibility, and medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) benefits.
