Booking.com is seeking a Senior Strategy & Operations Partner to serve as the right hand to a Marketplace Vice President. The role will help a 400+ person organisation make faster decisions, execute strategy at scale and improve leadership operating systems across Product, Engineering, Data & AI, Design and Commercial functions.

Responsibilities

  • Own the VP's operating system, including planning, performance reviews, all-hands, offsites and key leadership events.
  • Run leadership cadences and ensure forums produce decisions with clear owners and follow-through.
  • Translate strategy into priorities and help define and execute the VP organisation's strategic direction.
  • Act as a trusted sounding board and sparring partner, challenging assumptions and shaping strategic initiatives.
  • Project-manage strategic workstreams through to delivery.
  • Frame complex trade-offs as decision-ready options with clear recommendations.
  • Build portfolio and performance visibility to support prioritisation, investment and course correction.
  • Surface risks, team-health signals and cross-functional friction before they escalate.
  • Drive alignment across Product, Tech, Data & AI, UX, Commercial and other Business Units.
  • Prepare the VP for key forums and decision moments, ensuring the right people and information are in place.
  • Design governance, cadence and best practices for planning, decision-making and performance management.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in Chief of Staff, Strategy & Operations, Business Operations, management consulting or senior programme management.
  • Experience in Product or Technology organisations at scale.
  • Proven experience serving as a trusted sparring partner to a VP or equivalent leader of a 500+ person organisation.
  • Experience designing and running leadership operating systems.
  • Ability to frame trade-offs as decisions and focus on decision velocity and organisational leverage.
  • Strong relationship-building, discretion and accountability skills.
  • Experience managing 5+ teams in a matrix environment without direct reporting lines.
  • Credibility with executives and adaptability across cultures and communication styles.
  • Experience designing governance, cadence and standardised processes.
  • Skills in strategy execution, problem identification, scoping, recommendation development, consensus building and executive communication.
  • Ability to develop deep content understanding, connect strategic information and take proactive action.
  • AI-savvy, with an interest in using AI and automation to improve operations, reporting and decision support.
  • Ability to deliver under pressure with hard deadlines, competing stakeholders and ambiguity.
  • Ability to work effectively in a global environment with sensitivity to cultural differences.

Nice to Have

  • Previous Booking.com experience as an employee or contractor.
  • Product and Technology domain fluency.
  • Management consulting experience, such as McKinsey, BCG, Bain or equivalent.
  • Experience with OKR frameworks, Jira and portfolio management tools.
  • FP&A partnership and budget-cycle experience.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools such as Glean, Gemini or Claude for operations, reporting or decision preparation.

  • Timeline: 6 months, from September 12, 2026 to March 11, 2027
  • Engagement: Independent contractor
  • The role will shape strategy execution and leadership operating systems within Booking.com's Marketplace organisation.
