The Program Manager is responsible for the governance and end-to-end program management of several workstreams or portfolios within the department. The role partners with teams across the department, business units, centralized functions, and external vendors to scope projects, develop business cases, manage dependencies, and deliver shared objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead high-complexity, strategic, or critical-priority projects from scoping through execution, analysis, recommendation, and implementation.
  • Manage multiple medium-complexity, cross-functional projects with global impact.
  • Manage portfolios of programs containing multiple projects.
  • Define scope, initiate projects, and manage and execute each phase of complex department programs with limited to no supervision.
  • Drive the vision for initiatives and programs toward clear business objectives, requirements, scope, and success criteria.
  • Create and maintain planning documents, roadmaps, and dependency-management processes with involved teams and departments.
  • Track and report the status and progress of all workstreams, highlighting risks and issues to governance groups and team members.
  • Enable teams and leaders to make quality decisions and support prioritization exercises.
  • Interact productively with and manage senior stakeholders up to VP level.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the impact and experience for customers, partners, and the business, translating opportunities into business cases.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop action plans that improve outcomes for customers, the business, and employees.
  • Partner with business units, corporate functions, and business-function leadership to ensure resources are allocated to the right work within headcount and P&L budgets.
  • Lead best-practice behaviors within the department regarding project-management methodologies and behaviors.
  • Support the annual budgeting and planning cycle and drive selected workstreams.
  • Collate information and business cases and work with leadership to define a consistent departmental strategy.
  • Successfully manage people when required by the scope of the role.

Requirements

  • Strong project-management skills and experience using a range of methodologies and techniques.
  • Preferably, a background in Agile project management, PMI certification, and/or LEAN.
  • Proven ability to independently lead high-complexity end-to-end projects, drive multiple medium-complexity projects, and/or manage a portfolio of projects.
  • Solid business understanding and the ability to use quantitative and qualitative data independently to drive decision-making.
  • Analytical skills, including data handling, measuring success, and clearly communicating data and insights.
  • Ability to think holistically and articulate a long-term vision for the project-management discipline and owned programs.
  • Change-management experience and mindset.
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across diverse internal and external teams.
  • Effective communication skills, including communication with large audiences.
  • Ability to influence and steer leadership, senior management, and groups up to Senior Director level, and interact productively with VP-level stakeholders.
  • Ability to break complex problems into actionable, easy-to-understand solutions.
  • Ability to work effectively in ambiguous and constantly changing environments.
  • Experience in a specific or similar function is a plus.
  • Experience and a proven track record of successfully managing people is optional depending on scope.

Contract Details

  • Project-based independent contractor engagement.
  • Duration: 6 months, from September 9, 2026, to March 8, 2027.
  • Hours: 40 hours per week.
